The Dangers In My Heart – Season 2 Episode 12 Recap & Review

Karte 24: I Want To Tell Her

Episode 12 of The Dangers In My Heart Season 2 starts with Kyotaro stumbling upon Yamada. He notices she’s wearing her summer outfit. Yamada asks Kyotaro to feel her skirt. During this fiasco, she acknowledges that he’s not properly dressed. Later, Kyotaro ponders Summer and knows Yamada’s been busy as of late. Meanwhile, Chihiro confronts Yamada about her joyful mood. She wonders if Yamada got approved for the part she auditioned for.

Ms. Moriya enters the classroom and wants the class to form their school trip groups. Moeko calls out to Yamada and she leaves Kyotaro to see what Moeko wants. Meanwhile, Kanzaki confronts Kyotaro and asks if he wants to group up. He says they can ask Yamada to join their group. Kyotaro leaves to ask Yamada if he can join her group.

Chihiro’s baffled by Kyotaro’s response because they’re only choosing roommates. This baffles Kyotaro and Kanzaki says he was referring to their classmate Teppei Yamada. Kyotaro looks at Yamada as she’s tampering with her phone in class. At home, Kyotaro wonders why Yamada isn’t acting like herself. Kyotaro’s imaginary friend chimes in and believes Yamada is concerned about her and Kyotaro’s first kiss.

He informs Kyotaro that volume 12 of the manga he and Yamada read called “Kimi-Iro Octave” has a school trip arc. During this arc, the protagonist kisses his lover. Kyotaro tells his imaginary friend to leave. Kyotaro imagines a kissing scenario between him and Yamada. Kyotaro’s embarrassed by this vision. Then, he grabs a School Camp book on his bookshelf and looks at it. He wonders why he hung on to this book.

Yamada video calls Kyotaro. He notices she’s reading Kimi-Iro Octave’s 12th volume. Yamada says she wants to discuss their upcoming trip with Kyotaro. Kyotaro asks her why and Yamada notices Kyotaro’s School Camp book. Yamada freezes up and asks Kyotaro if they can resume their call vocally instead of through video.

Kyotaro complies. The two chat about food briefly. Later, Kyotaro visits the subway station to meet with Yamada and their classmates for their Nara and Kyoto trip. Kyotaro, Yamada, and the others board the subway train. Yamada asks Moeko if they can trade seats every five minutes. Moeko tells Yamada she won’t trade seats with her.

Kyotaro wonders how he ended up sitting next to Hanzawa. Hanzawa looks at him and Kyotaro trades seats with her. Seconds later, Hanzawa warns Kyotaro that he should act cautiously during this trip. She informs him that Kanna is working on a celebratory confetti basket and wants to pair a couple up during their trip. Hanzawa says Kyotaro and Yamada are her top candidates.

Kyotaro tells Hanzawa that he and Yamada are friends. Hanzawa wonders if Kyotaro needs motivation to ask Yamada out, and Kyotaro says he can do it himself. He looks up and notices Yamada staring at him menacingly. Yamada asks Kyotaro if she can recline her chair. Kyotaro says he minds and doesn’t want Yamada to recline her chair. While they argue, Hanzawa ponders love.

While exploring Nara Park, Kyotaro contemplates his situation. He feels as long as he can keep his distance from Yamada, Kanna, and the others won’t entice them to pair up. Unfortunately, Kyotaro knows that he, Kanna, and the others are in the same group.

While exploring Nara Park, Yamada tries feeding one of the deers. This results in numerous deers frolicking toward her. Yamada flees from the deer and tosses the crackers at Kyotaro. They land on Kyotaro’s bookbag and he wonders why there are a bunch of deer heading toward him. Kyotaro gives Yamada the crackers and Kanna starts getting fidgety. Hanzawa holds Kanna back and Kyotaro flees the scene, leaving Yamada to fend for herself.

Kyotaro visits a nearby area and notices Chihiro’s nearby. He and Chihiro observe Yamada from afar. Chihiro feels Yamada’s acting strange and Kyotaro agrees. Chihiro says Yamada chose to be this way, and Kyotaro wonders what she’s talking about. Moeko and Sekine spot Chihiro and Chihiro leaves Kyotaro alone. Kyotaro ponders what Chihiro said.

While taking their trip photo, Kyotaro wonders how Yamada feels. Next, Kyotaro and his classmates visit the Meguro Ward Daijuni Junior High building at night. While Yamada and Chihiro fight over food, Kyotaro thinks about Yamada’s current demeanor. Later, Kyotaro undresses in the bathhouse and heads for one of the baths.

Adachi stops him and asks him to compete in a perverted activity. Adachi tells Kanzaki that he got in trouble for accidentally walking into the girls’ bathing area. Adachi says since the girls are probably getting involved in some “fun” activities in the bath, they should participate in some “fun” excursions themselves.

Meanwhile, in the girl’s bathing area, the others want to get a peek at Yamada. Chihiro entices the other girls to leave the bathing area. Chihiro asks Yamada if she’s enjoying her trip. Yamada says she’s having a blast. Later, Chihiro leaves Yamada so she can blow dry her hair. Kyotaro startles Yamada and saves her phone from breaking. Yamada thanks Kyotaro and he notices something interesting on Yamada’s phone.

Kanna spots the two together and tries showering them with her celebratory basket. However, her plan fails when Adachi arrives. Upon his arrival, Yamada leaves Adachi and Kyotaro alone, prohibiting Kanna from performing her celebratory ritual. In his room, Kyotaro contemplates the information that was on Yamada’s phone.

His imaginary friend tells him that Yamada wants to kiss Kyotaro on the final day of their trip. Kyotaro feels that that isn’t on Yamada’s mind. Kyotaro and his imaginary friend overhear Yamada reading Kimi-Iro Octave’s twelfth volume. Kyotaro realizes the line she recited was from the twelfth volume. Kyotaro thinks Yamada’s practicing for a role in a Kimi-Iro Octave production.

Kyotaro ponders everything over and leaves to confront Yamada. Before Kyotaro texts Yamada that he’d like to talk with her tomorrow, he overhears Moriya yelling at her. Moriya tells her to go to her room and Yamada complies. Before she does, she notices Kyotaro nearby. Yamada confronts Kyotaro and Moriya spots the two but Yamada’s hiding Kyotaro under a towel of some kind.

Yamada says this is Chihiro and Moriya shoves the two into their assigned room. Yamada hides Kyotaro when Kanna and Chihiro exit one of the rooms. The episode closes with Kyotaro realizing he’s in a room filled with girls.

The Episode Review

We’re nearing the season’s conclusion and it looks like we’re getting closer to that long-awaited confession sequence between Yamada and Kyotaro. While some of the episode’s provocative humor will bug some viewers, others will enjoy the other forms of comedy present within this chapter. From Yamada’s antics with the horde of deer to Kanna’s various couple-shipping stunts, fans will find its wholesome comedy to their liking.

Comedy aside, this episode delivers great tension between Yamada and Kyotaro’s characters. Whether it’s Yamada’s audition dilemma or Kyotaro’s room-hiding shenanigans, we’re optimistic the two will find a way to resolve their respective issues. Additionally, this season’s animation, visuals, and camera work continue to impress. You can feel the emotions flowing inside our characters’ core here and that’s much appreciated.

Overall, this was another great showcase from The Dangers of My Heart. While some fans can do without most of its humor, fans will cherish this series for its marvelous attention to detail. I’m excited to see how this one concludes next week.
