The Dangers In My Heart – Season 2 Episode 11 Recap & Review

Karte 23: I Don’t Want To Lose

Episode 11 of The Dangers In My Heart Season 2 starts with Ms. Moriya informing the students about the upcoming sports festival. She’s upset that her team lost last year and wants this year to be different. Kyotaro isn’t interested in the sports festival. However, a fellow student approaches Kyotaro, asking him to be their knight for their mock cavalry battle.

Kyotaro’s unsure and when the student calls him puny, Yamada stands up for him. The student leaves and Kyotaro is mildly embarrassed by Yamada’s reaction to the boy’s comment toward him. Later, Adachi and Kyotaro discuss this instance in the restroom. Adachi says he’s participating in the mock cavalry battle. After making pervy comments, Adachi reminds Kyotaro about last year’s sports festival incident involving Kyotaro and Yamada.

Before Adachi discusses things further with Kyotaro, Kyotaro leaves the restroom. He contemplates that topic Adachi brought up to him. Kyotaro believes that’s the first time he and Yamada interacted with each other. While pondering the instance further, Yamada greets Kyotaro. She brings up the wound he sustained from the sports festival last year.

Adachi and the others observe the two from afar. Adachi asks Kanzaki what happened between him, Kyotaro, Yamada, and Hara on White Day. Adachi approaches Kyotaro and challenges him to a one-on-one cavalry battle. Kyotaro accepts Adachi’s challenge. We cut to Kyotaro running around the block. He visits a nearby drink machine to grab himself a beverage.

Kyotaro opens up about his exercising worries briefly with his imaginary friend. Kyotaro spots Yamada nearby and the two head to a bench to discuss things. The two chat about the upcoming sports festival and Kyotaro’s exercise regime. Yamada and Kyotaro jog around the area. They stop and decide to visit Yamada’s home.

Yamada shows Kyotaro an ab roller and proceeds to use it in front of him. While using it, Yamada asks Kyotaro if he can move Wantaro away from her. After that, Kyotaro performs 19 exercises with Yamada’s ab roller. Yamada presents Kyotaro with her father’s weights. Kyotaro’s unsure if he can use those weights, and Yamada tells Kyotaro she didn’t expect him to challenge Adachi.

Kyotaro tells Yamada it’s because he’s his friend. Internally, Kyotaro has a hunch Adachi likes Yamada. Yamada asks Kyotaro how he likes his eggs, but Kyotaro’s more focused on wanting to defeat Adachi. Kyotaro barely lifts the weight and Yamada helps him. We cut to Yamada and the other girls marking themselves with markers.

Kyotaro runs down the stairs and Yamada spooks him. She uses her marker to write something on Kyotaro’s head. Then, she wraps a red sweatband in his hand and tells Kyotaro not to let his sweatband fall off. Outside, Adachi shares a speech to kick off the event. Everyone, including Kyotaro, finds his speech absurd. Kyotaro vows not to lose to Adachi.

Hanzawa shows Yamada and the others some fans she made for the event. Kanna participates in the scavenger hunt activity. She informs the others that she must find a couple that is or isn’t going out yet. Kyotaro feels Kanna wrote the note herself and Kanna asks Yamada if she’s involved in any relationship thus far. Yamada doesn’t respond, so Kanna resorts to another method.

Ultimately, the announcer disqualifies her team, resulting in Ms. Moriya scolding Kanna. Kyotaro glances at Adachi and realizes he’s warming up for their duel. Meanwhile, Yamada gets into a sensual predicament at the sports festival, resulting in Adachi trying to glare at her. Kyotaro prevents Adachi from looking at Yamada. Adachi recalls a prior experience where Kyotaro prevented him from interacting with Yamada.

Due to the weather, the school’s staff want to halt the competition. Adachi rushes over to the teachers and asks them to let the boys continue the cavalry battle event. One of the teachers denies Adachi the opportunity. However, Kyotaro tells them he wants the battle to resume as planned. Kyotaro and Adachi confront each other about their feelings for Yamada and each other while battling.

Additionally, Kyotaro tells Adachi why he shouldn’t like someone because she’s pretty. Adachi submits and asks Kyotaro if he can let him go out satisfyingly. Kyotaro objects because he knows he still likes Yamada. He wants Adachi to give it his best. Meanwhile, the other girls flee the area. Moeko tells Yamada she believes the two are fighting but knows they can’t hear them because of the weather.

Filled with resolve, Adachi leaps toward Kyotaro and removes his headband. We learn Yamada wrote Kyotaro’s nickname “Kyo” underneath his headband, signaling to Adachi that Yamada loves Kyotaro. Adachi and Kyotaro plummet to the ground. Later, Yamada visits the two in the nurse’s office. Adachi notices Yamada and leaves the room. As he goes for a stroll, Moeko places a towel on his head and leaves.

Adachi wonders what that was all about. Adachi notices a girl nearby and it happens to be Kana, Kyotaro’s sister. Kana tells Adachi to get lost and Adachi squeals. Kana overhears Kyotaro discussing his loss with Yamada and leaves the room. Yamada gives Kyotaro a plate of food and the episode closes with her telling Kyotaro he looked great out there.

The Episode Review

This episode of The Dangers In My Heart gave fans an admirable duel between friends. While Adachi lost the war, he may not have lost the battle. Prior episodes seem to be alluding to Moeko having feelings for Adachi after the White Day chocolate debacle. Although he won’t be with Yamada, he at least has a shot of walking away from this series with a romance to latch on to.

Adachi aside, this episode continues teasing audiences with more wholesome, funny, and adorable sequences involving Yamada and Kyotaro. Like Sein from Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End, fans will be left wondering when the two will confess to each other. While the slice-of-life scenarios are a blast to sit through, many will wonder when that inevitable confession scene will occur

Even if we don’t receive it earlier than anticipated, we’re hopeful the author will make this agonizing wait worth it in the long term. Overall, this was a touching chapter of The Dangers In My Heart. Once it’s all said and done, we can see this anime becoming a classic if it continues embarking down this noteworthy path.
