Overtake! – Season 1 Episode 10 Recap & Review

Never Say Never

Overtake! Episode 10 begins with Kota and Futoshi discussing the sale of the car, but Haruka arrives and informs them that he’ll need it as he turned down Belsorriso. Later, he explains that he wants to stand on the podium with the same team before going pro.

Koya practices his photography skills and then discusses recent events with Saeko who apologizes for not understanding his situation and offers him a modeling job. Koya claims that his next picture will be of Haruka on the podium.

Back at the racetrack, Haruka tries to change the setup and adapt to what he had learned at Belsorriso. Toshiki performs worse than usual, and Ena picks up on it. Toshiki goes for another practice lap and rethinks if he made the right decision to go for the pole position.

Meanwhile, Satsuki continues his exercises despite excruciating pain to avoid muscle atrophy. After the practice round, Kota and Haruka are disappointed with the timing. Koya and Saeko also come to watch the race and take photographs.

Ena approaches Haruka and tells him that Toshiki feels demotivated, requesting him to cheer Toshiki up. In the Belsorriso tent, a new driver joins in and is excited to be the number 2 driver and learn. Toshiki offers him the chance to drive in position 1.

As the racers take their positions, Haruka asks Kota for the track temperature, but he is unable to estimate it. Despite this, they proceed with high zeal and energy. The race begins, and Haruka overtakes a large number of opponents right at the start. Toshiki allows the new driver to surpass him.

Meanwhile, Haruka drives with precision, overtaking other drivers and securing third position. However, the new driver is unable to keep up the pace, which bores Toshiki. Yuitari accidentally grazes the side and drifts out of control, allowing Toshiki to take the lead.

Haruka manages to secure the second position, but as he proceeds, the tire loses grip, causing him to slide and lose position. The race ends with Toshiki in first position and Haruka unable to make it onto the podium at the end of Overtake! Episode 10.

The Episode Review

Overtake! Episode 10 takes us back to the racetrack after Koya’s and Haruka’s break. We also witness Haruka leaving Belsorriso to join Komaki Motors, harboring the dream of reaching the podium with his current team. This move was well-expected, considering the sentimental value the friendship and team have gained.

Things feel a bit strange for Belsorriso, and the team seems to be hanging by a thread. Ever since Satsuki’s injury, they’ve been constantly changing drivers. Luckily for them, Toshiki continues to battle his way through and maintain the first position. In this chapter, his confidence wavered greatly, indicating that things are getting dicey.

With two episodes remaining, Haruka still seems far from the podium due to the drawbacks of his car. However, skill-wise, Haruka appears to be in a much better position after interacting with Belsorriso. Satsuki’s condition doesn’t seem to have improved much, and even if he does manage to return this season, he will not be at his peak performance while racing. It’ll be interesting to watch how this season concludes.
