“Vat Man & Rob ‘Em”

Episode 18 of Family Guy season 21 starts with employees at Peter’s Brewery gathered to say goodbye to Moses, the night watchman for 40 years who is retiring from the job. Peter steps up to take Moses’ position thinking it will be easy and fun to do.

After just two days as the night watchman, Peter is going off the track. A not-so-legal incident involving Principal Sheppard motivates Peter to turn the brewery into a nightclub. He gets support from his friends and starts raking it in in no time.

Brian and Stewie are taking a stroll when they spot a flyer of a missing dog with a hefty reward. The dog in the flyer looks incredibly like Brian except he has got some spots. The duo thinks it’d be an easy opportunity to walk off with $1000 if they can make Brian look like the missing pup.

Stewie paints spots on Brian to make him look like the missing dog and takes him to the owner. He gets the cash, but the owner is not what he seems to be. He places Brian in a tiny cage, revealing himself to be a TikToker who creates perilous videos involving his dog. Brian is understandably scared.

On the other side of Quahog, Peter’s brewery has run out of beer due to Peter’s stupid plan, and the man sees no way out. He gets help from Moses who tells him that such a thing may happen but they have got to find the solution. They plan to pull off a crazy beer heist, but it doesn’t work, thanks to Peter.

Peter is ready to apologize for causing the damage to the brewery, however he is informed that there is plenty of beer in the brewery. Moses informs Peter that it was him who refilled it with 30 years of beer he stole while working. Later, Moses takes back his job.

Stewie asks Chris to help him rescue Brian. While the man is creating a video involving Brian, Chris attacks him from behind. After a bit of struggle, Brian is saved.

The Episode Review

Without a doubt, Family Guy is thinking outside the box. Whether or not the episode swings the magic is one thing, but the creators deserve points for bringing fresh ideas. The one in question is above average. Peter and Brewie are at the forefront one more time, and they don’t disappoint. The writing is clever in some instances, and some Family Guy-typical bits here and there as always add to the overall funniness. It’s a good one to watch.
