In episode 9 of The Masterful Cat Is Depressed Again Today, Saku and her coworkers go out for drinks. To let Yukichi know she will be late, she calls him. Even after several drinks, Saku manages to maintain her composure, and her coworkers are impressed by how well she presents herself.

When Saku finally gets home, she nearly passes out. However, Yukichi takes care of her, pushes her to get changed, helps her with her night-time skincare routine and even gives her drinks that will help with the hangover. Then, he gives her a massage that ultimately sends her to sleep.

The next day, Saku returns to work feeling revitalised, all because of Yukichi. However, her colleagues are impressed by how she manages to work through a hangover while maintaining a professional demeanour. Towards the end of the workday, two of Saku’s coworkers reflect on how she has changed over the years. In the past, Saku helped a coworker by rescuing her from a suspicious man on the train.

The focus then switches to Yukichi, who meets with his neighbour. We notice that the neighbour is temporarily tending to the kitten from the previous episode. The kitty is overjoyed to see Yukichi and refuses to let him go. Following that, the neighbour asks Yukichi if he can watch the kitten for a bit while she runs some errands. Yukichi agrees to help her out.

Following that, Yukichi spends the entire day taking care of the mischievous kitten. Yukichi and the kitten fall asleep towards the end of the day, which is a treat for the neighbour to behold when she returns home. When Saku arrives home from work later that day, Yukichi thinks of her as the kitty. Yukichi then pets her, which makes Saku joyous.

The Episode Review

Three stories are presented in Episode 9. We begin with watching Saku become intoxicated, then her coworkers gasp at her professionalism, and lastly Yukichi caring for the kitten. All three stories told in this episode are quite moving. The story in which Yukichi is shown caring for the cat stands out because their relationship is so adorable and enjoyable to watch.

The show additionally points out how Saku has gotten healthier and more efficient at work since Yukichi entered her life. The friendship between the two is so poignant that you can’t help but be blown away by their closeness. It’ll be intriguing to see what additional stories the anime has in store for us in the upcoming episodes.
