The Lake – Season 2 Episode 5 “Angel Tits and Dirty Bananas” Recap & Review

Angel Tits and Dirty Bananas

Episode 5 of The Lake season 2 begins with Billie attempting to find an alternate position after being fired from her last job. Following that, Justin takes Billie to Maisy’s house for dinner, assuring her that the latter can help her find work.

Maisy and Mimsy are in mourning at Maisy’s house because it is the anniversary of Mimsy’s husband’s death. Justin asks Maisy to assist Billie with an internship opportunity, and she agrees, on the condition that he persuades Mimsy to admit that she set fire to the boathouse

Billie and Mimsy are talking, and Mimsy asks about Billie’s internship. Billie then tells her about the situation, but Mimsy notices Billie ignoring Ivy and Forrest’s text messages.

Justin has a private conversation with Mimsy in which he attempts to convince her to confess to being the arsonist. After some discussion, he discovers that she is not the real culprit.

Billie enters the kitchen and strikes up a conversation with Maisy. Maisy requests privacy from Billie though when Justin appears. Justin tries to convince Maisy that Mimsy is not at fault but Maisy on the other hand, refuses to be reasonable and understand the situation.

The family decides to commemorate the late Lovejoy. Maisy confronts Mimsy and demands that she admit to burning down the boathouse. They later discover that Mimsy did not set fire to the boathouse. Justin has an epiphany in which he realizes that, like his father, he avoids serious relationships to prevent being hurt.

Mimsy and Billie sit next to each other, where the former notices that Billie is ignoring text messages from Ivy and Forrest. Mimsy asks Billie about it, but she says she doesn’t know who to choose between the two. Mimsy then advises Billie to follow her heart.

After some more family turmoil, Billie and Justin are about to leave when Mimsy gives them some gifts. In the midst of this, Maisy then offers Billie a job. Billie, on the other hand, says she’d rather enjoy the rest of the summer. Mimsy apologizes to Maisy after Billie and Justin leave. Maisy, on the other hand, is still determined to win.

Later that night, Billie messages Ivy, saying she was busy earlier and that she’d like to talk the following day.

The Episode Review

The entire episode is set in Maisy’s house, and all of the drama unfolds there. This is a clear example of how the show suffers from having less matter to deliver. As a consequence, the show compensates by stretching the story with trivial matters.

The episode concludes with Billie messaging Ivy. It’s a hint that Billie prefers to date Ivy rather than Forrest, which could bring up more conflict going forward. It will certainly be interesting to see how things progress from here.
