The Kingdoms of Ruin – Season 1 Episode 2 Recap & Review

Heavenly Fire

The Kingdoms of Ruin Episode 2 begins with Adonis breaking free from the capsule he was held captive in. He instantly kills the guards and breaks Doroka’s chains. Yamato deploys Eekhout to report on the situation. Yuki orders him to maintain peace on his mission. Palpol is shocked to see the confiscated item in storage to be stolen. They explain that his voice was imitated.

Adonis shoots a bullet and uses a spell to enlarge it, hitting a building. Eekhout kills all prisoners in the facility, as well as Palpol. Doroka sees the shell hitting the building and regrets not being able to stop Eekhout.

Adonis decides to wreak havoc on humanity and remembers Chloe’s last words. He summons a giant monster out of the ground. It hurls a car into the military facility that isn’t aware of what’s going on.

Yamato checks up on how the defences are holding up and about his majesty’s awareness. Knowing both are down, he declares a state of emergency. He prioritizes holding defensive line 4 and requests air-ground support from all available aircraft. He also deploys armored foot soldiers.

Yamato checks up on the DAM, but unfortunately, it is underground and might not work due to wear and tear. The tanks fire at the monster, but their missiles are redirected to hit the buildings around him. He throws shattered rocks their way, destroying the tanks.

Adonis had spent years prying and plotting the perfect way to slaughter nations. He uses magic to create weapons and sheds blood in the masses. Just then, the air troops get to Adonis’ location and release missiles on the monster, dealing a devastating hit. Adonis escapes unharmed.

Back at the castle, His Majesty hears about Adonis’ escape, but he himself is dying from an incurable illness. He doesn’t repent for the witches he murdered.

Yamato and the military base lose coverage of the site. Adonis chokes a soldier and holds him up in the air. Doroka tries to stop him from killing further, but this only angers him more. She claims Chloe wouldn’t wish what was happening, but this gets on his nerves.

He chokes her as well and she reveals that she is a witch herself. He questions her as to why the witches didn’t save Chloe. She claims that they can resurrect Chloe, but he puts her down and holds the sword at her neck.

She accepts her fate with tears in her eyes, but this reminds him of Chloe’s death. He gets weak and falls to his knees. Just then, a shot is fired by a sniper which hits her at the end of The Kingdoms of Ruin Episode 2.

The Episode Review

The Kingdoms of Ruin Episode 2 feeds the feeling of vengeance the first episode built up and gets you to question your own humanity. The first episode features the brutal public execution of Chloe the witch right in front of her son-like apprentice, Adonis, at the hands of tyrannical humans. In this chapter, 10 years have passed, and Adonis is set free by Doroka, who is also a witch.

Adonis seeks vengeance over the entirety of humanity and uses his overpowered abilities to attack the entire city, causing hundreds of innocent people to lose their lives. The episode gets you to empathize with his rage but also makes you question if it’s worth the innocent lives.

It is also however a beacon of light as Doroka mentions that Chloe can be resurrected by using Adonis’ memories of her and is certainly something to look forward to. The episode ends with Doroka getting shot after getting Adonis to stop the bloodshed, but is she really dead?
