Spy X Family – Season 2 Episode 12 Recap & Review

Part of the Family

Episode 12 of Spy X Family Season 2 begins with Loid asking Anya if she’d like to help him walk Bond. Anya says she’s uninterested because she’s busy working on an origami project. Since Anya is uninterested, Loid decides to take Bond to the park to train him to be a proper guard dog. Loid orders Bond to practice attacking enemies and has Franky take on a criminal role. Loid yells at Bond for his poor performance and Franky tells Loid to ease up on the canine and reminds him that Bond was a part of Project Apple.

Additionally, Franky suggests Loid take Bond for a walk instead. During their walk, Bond receives a vision. In this vision, he sees a boy drop his ice cream cone, resulting in his friends laughing at him. After spotting the boy and his friends (in real-time), Bond rushes toward the boy. Bond feels if he prevents the boy from falling, Loid will praise him for it. Unfortunately, Bond startles the boy, resulting in him dropping his cone and Loid having to buy him a new ice cream cone.

Then, Bond receives a vision depicting another person getting into trouble. He tries to help this person, but he causes this individual more harm than good. Loid questions Bond’s strange actions for a bit while Bond’s irritated. Suddenly, Bond receives a vision depicting a child being trapped within a burning building. Bond leads Loid to the building in question to Loid’s confusion. A civilian tells Loid no one is inside but Bond believes this is false info.

Bond frees himself from Loid’s grasp to find Daisy, the child from his vision. Loid calls out to Bond. He wonders if Bond picked up someone’s scent and rushes inside. Loid finds Bond inside a room and we learn that Daisy is a puppy. Loid and Bond maneuver through the building and escape with Daisy. The civilian from earlier approaches them and praises Bond for his skills. Suddenly, Bond catches on fire and the civilian pours water on him to extinguish it.

Loid attempts to hold in his laughter after seeing how thin Bond is. Bond departs and we cut to the arsonist responsible for setting the building ablaze. Bond tracks the arsonist down and subdues him. Before the arsonist severely injures Bond, Loid arrives and knocks him out. Loid praises Bond for his sensory and attack skills. Loid tells Bond they’ll lay low and not inform the woman that they’re the ones who saved Daisy.

Additionally, Loid tells Bond that he shouldn’t act recklessly. However, he apologizes for his mean-spirited remarks and wants Bond to understand that he’s a member of the Forger Family and that if he dies, many people, including Anya will be upset. Loid tells Bond that he and the others should visit the dog park tomorrow for family purposes. At the Forger household, Yor successfully creates an origami bird but fails to make origami people.

Then, Loid and Bond arrive home and Anya’s baffled by Bond’s thin look. However, she reads Loid’s mind and learns about their arsonist-related mission. She’s delighted they accomplished something heroic during their walk. While Yor leaves the room to get something to dry Bond with, Anya bestows Loid and Bond with origami Stella Stars. Loid’s mildly thankful but hopes Anya can earn herself a real one soon.

We receive brief snippets from many characters who had significant roles to play in this season from Damian to Fiona. The episode closes with a shot of the Forgers eating dinner and Bond sleeping next to his Origami Stella Star.

The Episode Review

Spy X Family Season 2 closes with a wholesome and thrilling outing between Loid and Bond. Considering how long it’s been since we saw the family canine in action, fans will adore seeing these two team up to save the day. Additionally, this chapter contains endearing dialogue and captures the family charm fans come to expect from this anime.

From Loid’s encouraging words to Bond to Bond’s attempts at impressing Loid, fans will appreciate this chapter’s relaxing aura. Furthermore, this episode possibly alludes to Bond serving a significant role down the pipeline. Whether that role has our family pet assisting Loid or Yor from the shadows, begs to be seen.

However, it would be farfetched to believe this training excursion was for nothing. Hopefully, we’ll see Bond get his time to shine in season 3 when that eventually arrives. Overall, this was a nice way to wrap up this Spy X Family season two. I’m excited to see what awaits the Forgers in their next outing.
