Berlint in Love / Nightfall’s Daily Life
Episode 11 of Spy X Family Season 2 begins with Becky and her butler arriving at Anya’s apartment. Becky wants to make a great impression on Loid to her butler’s dismay. Loid approaches Becky and her attendant. He thanks Becky for being a good friend to Anya. Her attendant leaves and asks Loid to look after Becky. Becky and Anya explore the apartment but stop when Becky compares Anya’s room to one of her home’s lower-ranked areas.
She asks Anya if Yor’s home and Anya says she’s busy walking Bond. Becky’s ecstatic because this gives her a chance to woo Loid. Anya ponders what life would look like if Becky was her mother. Liking the idea of it all, Anya properly introduces Becky to Loid again. Loid thinks it’d be great to learn more about Becky and her family since it could help with Operation Strix. After gathering intel from Becky about her father’s line of work, Loid deduces the Blacbell Heavy Industry isn’t involved in any war plans.
Regardless, he plans to continue asking her questions. Suddenly, Yor arrives, infuriating Becky. Becky plans to use some techniques she learned from her favorite drama show to win Loid over. Her attempts fail and while everyone’s having tea, Becky asks Loid if he’d like to ask her any more questions about her family. Becky uses a drunk affection tactic on Loid and it doesn’t work. Yor looks at Becky and Loid feels she might get the wrong idea.
Fearing she put alcohol in Becky’s tea, Yor grabs Becky and flees to the hospital. During this hilarious excursion, Becky tells Yor the truth, enticing her to stop. Yor ensures Becky she’s not mad about her faking her drunk status and reveals why she believes Loid chose her to be his wife. Yor tells Becky that Loid chose her because she’s strong. Loid and Anya arrive with Becky’s bag and Becky spots a “test your strength” game event nearby. She tries to participate but fails.
Yor believes Becky wants to win the game’s top prize for Loid so she takes a crack at the game. She ends up destroying the owner’s game, leaving everyone baffled. Becky admits defeat and asks Yor if she can become her apprentice. Yor accepts Becky’s offer. Becky’s attendant arrives at the Forger household and sees Becky training with Yor. The first set piece closes with Anya realizing life’s better with Yor as her mother.
The next set piece begins at the Berlint General Hospital. Fiona observes Loid from afar and we receive a flashback involving her and Handler. Handler hands Fiona documents about a mission she wants her to tackle. Fiona ensures Handler that she can handle this mission and departs. While tackling the mission, Fiona reflects on her admiration for Loid as a person and spy. She’s determined to do whatever it takes to prove that she’s more worthy to be his wife than Yor.
Fiona asks Loid how things went with his vacation and he says everything went swell. He presents Fiona with gifts from the Loreilei and Fiona is taken aback by it all. The episode closes with her skipping through the hospital’s hallway and stating how much she loves Loid.
The Episode Review
As with last week’s chapter, this episode continues giving viewers more amusing scenarios to sit through. While many may adore the show’s serious storytelling more than its down-to-earth segments, this episode was full of enough humor to brighten anyone’s mood for the weekend. From Becky’s failed love attempts to Fiona’s skipping sequence, you’ll find it hard to hold in your chuckles with this one.
That said, it’s nice to see Becky become Yor’s apprentice by the first set piece’s conclusion. While they started as rivals (to a degree), this gives Yor a chance to improve herself as a caretaker. At the same time, there’s always a chance Becky can become a stronger adversary down the pipeline, thanks to Yor’s training.
Whether or not that happens, begs to be seen. Overall, this was a simple yet enjoyable chapter of Spy x Family Season 2. I’m anticipating the season finale will leave us with a satisfying cliffhanger that’ll prepare fans for the series’s next story arc. Hopefully, this one offers meaningful material that’ll satisfy Spy x Family’s entire audience.
