Spy X Family – Season 2 Episode 10 Recap & Review

Enjoy the Resort to the Fullest / Bragging About Vacation

Episode 10 of Spy X Family Season 2 begins with Loid and Anya leaving the Lorelei and heading for the nearby resort. They bump into Yor along the way, and Loid asks her about her cheek injury. Yor explains what happened to her cheek to him and the trio decides to explore different locations on this island resort. While Yor watches Anya play with sheep on a farm, she hopes they can live peacefully like this in the future.

After participating in more wholesome activities, the Forger family returns to the Lorelei to rest up. They arrive home and Loid offers Franky souvenirs for his dog-caring services. Loid visits Handler and learns that many people went missing on that ship. Moreover, Handler tells him the missing parties had fake IDs and says they should keep an eye out for any extremists in Ostania. After asking Loid how his vacation went, the first segment closes with Anya sleeping next to a drawing she made of her family on the ship.

The next set piece begins with Yor handing her coworkers skeleton keychain gifts from the Lorelei. Although they’re unsatisfied with the presents, they tell Yor they’re willing to accept them. Yuri skips around and his coworker assumes it’s because he’s visiting Yor later. While Yuri prepares to see his sister, Loid prepares the apartment for Yuri’s arrival. Meanwhile, Anya tells Becky she got to explore the Loreilei ship and hopes this will convince Damian to invite her to his home.

However, Becky finds that to be a normal activity as she’s been on the Loreilei before. After Anya brings up staying in Loreilei’s third classroom, Damian’s friends scold her and brag about what they did during the break. Becky chimes in and gathers everyone’s attention. Anya fabricates a swift tale about her experience on the ship. Her classmates share mixed reactions to her tale and a few go as far as to mock her for it.

Then, we cut to Yuri arriving at the Forger’s apartment. Yor hands him some snacks and eventually Anya arrives too. Yor asks Anya why she’s upset and she tells her, Lord, and Yuri that she tried acting like a celebrity in front of her friends. The four discuss the idea of lying for a bit and the episode closes with Anya promising to ease up on lying.

The Episode Review

After the amount of drama, action, and thrills we received from this season’s Cruise Ship arc, it makes sense for the story to revert to its peaceful and wholesome state. This episode aimed to give viewers a relaxing chapter to sit through and it accomplishes that wonderfully. From its familial activity montage to the banter between Anya and her classmates, there’s much to enjoy with this one.

At the same time, Yor’s comments about a peaceful future for her, Loid, and Anya may leave audiences sad. Taking Yor and Loid’s societal roles into account, we know it’ll be a while until the Forgers can enjoy life as a normal family. Moreover, the idea of them being a real family is still up in the air since fans are unsure if Loid wants to pursue that once he completes Operation Strix.

However, as the series progresses, we can expect Loid to develop deeper feelings for Yor and Anya that’ll make him contemplate this notion further. We’ll have to wait and see on that front.

Overall, this was a nice, feel-good episode of Spy x Family Season 2. Based on the next episode’s preview, it seems Fiona and Becky will have more screen time. Hopefully, the situations involving them will bring fans as much joy as the ones inserted in this week’s chapter.
