Percy Jackson and the Olympians – Season 1 Episode 7 “We Find Out the Truth, Sort Of” Recap & Review

We Find Out the Truth, Sort Of

In the first scene of Percy Jackson and the Olympians Episode 7, Percy visits the mattress store run by Procrustes, the evil son of Poseidon and Percy’s stepbrother. Procrustes, also known as Crusty, is in charge of guarding the underworld door, which is inside the mattress store. When Percy approaches Crusty, he attempts to persuade him to relax on one of his mattresses. But Percy sees through the ploy and decides to push Crusty onto the mattress instead. Following this, the mattress encircles Crusty, trapping him in place. Annabeth and Grover also appear at this point.

Following this, the three of them use the mattress store’s portal to descend into the Underworld. As one would expect, the underworld has an extremely chilling and forlorn atmosphere. Following this, they come across Chiron, a figure resembling the Grim Reaper. Since the three of them aren’t dead yet, he orders the fabled three-headed hound Cerberus to attack them. The three of them are pursued by Cerberus for a long time; in the end, Grover loses his orb, and Annabeth must use Poseidon’s orb to get away from the underworld. Following this, Percy and Grover come to a desert-like place. At this point, Cerberus stops chasing them.

However, things go south for Grover when his flying sneakers drag him towards the sea. However, Percy uses his sword to save Grover. Following this, Percy discovers the stolen master bolt belonging to Zeus in his backpack. Since Ares had given Percy the bag in St. Louis, the two of them reason that he must be responsible. However, they still have one more task to accomplish: Percy must find his mother.

Following that, Percy and Grover head to the underworld to meet Hades. Hades greets them at last and offers them a drink and a meal. However, Percy jumps right into asking him about his mother. Following this, Hades takes Percy to his mother, whom he has turned to gold. As long as Percy locates his helm of darkness, he is willing to lend a hand. He goes on to elaborate that it was stolen on the same day that Zeus’s masterbolt was stolen. When Percy finally pieces together the clues, he realizes that the thunderbolt was stolen by Kronos, the God of Evil and Time, who is also the father of the gods.

Then, because Kronos might use the thunderbolt to start a war, Hades wants it for himself. He proposes a new deal, saying that he will protect Grover, Percy’s mother, and Percy in exchange for the master bolt. However, Percy realizes that it’s wrong to betray Zeus, and so he refuses. Instead, he takes the first offer he gets. At this point, Percy and Grover take their orbs and leave Hades behind, making their way to a beach.

Throughout this episode, we also catch a glimpse of an incident from the past gradually coming to life. Since Percy is considered peculiar, his mother, Sally, is moving him to a new school while he is still quite young. To help him understand, she takes him to a cafe before sending him off. However, while Percy is moping, Sally is seen having a conversation with Poseidon. She asks him to show himself to Percy. However, he assures her that he will eventually, once he has a firm grasp on his identity and his place in the world.

After reaching the beach, Percy and Grover are pleased to see Annabeth waiting for them. We conclude the episode when Percy spots Ares approaching him.

The Episode Review

In episode 7, which happens to be the penultimate episode of the season, Percy, Grover, and Annabeth make their way to the underworld after tactically confronting Procrustes. Before Percy and Grover meet Hades, they must courageously deal with Chiron, Cerberus, and Kronos’s plotting. Nevertheless, a recent turn of events demonstrates that Hades did not steal the thunderbolt.

The episode is brimming with thrilling adventures, exciting twists, and mythological beings. The plot has gotten to a magnificent peak, the character arcs are well-developed, and the past and present timelines are expertly interwoven. In my opinion, this is one of the finest episodes of the entire season. Furthermore, the actors do a fantastic job portraying both Procrustes and Hades.

It will be intriguing to watch where the plot goes from here since we’re only one episode away from the finale. I’m also really curious to see which mythological creatures and gods make an appearance in the final episode.
