Will there be a Role Play 2? Here’s what we know about a sequel:

Role Play 2

Currently streaming on Prime Video is Role Play, a comic thriller starring Kaley Cuoco as Emma, a wife and mother who is also living a secret life as a contract killer.

If you have seen and enjoyed Role Play, you might be interested in a sequel.

But will there be a Role Play 2? Or will you have to create your own scenario for the sequel and ‘role play’ that with the people in your life? Here’s what we know:

What is Role Play about?

The movie’s focus is primarily on Emma, a devoted wife and mother with a secret job as a contract killer. When the people Emma used to work for hunt her and her family down, all of their lives are put in danger. It’s then up to this warm-hearted assassin to save herself and her clan from the hands of this shadowy organization.

Does Emma save her family? We aren’t going to reveal that here but if you would like to know more about Role Play, check out our Ending Explained article which delves further into the movie’s plotline.

Will there be a Role Play 2?

At the time of writing, a sequel to Role Play has not been announced

With some movies, sequels are announced soon after release but at other times, it can take months before a streamer like Amazon decides on a sequel’s future.

The reviews for Role Play aren’t particularly strong – we were a little critical about the movie in our review – so there is a chance a sequel won’t happen. However, if audiences connect with the movie, there’s a chance a sequel to Role Play might happen if the streamer demands it.

What could happen in Role Play 2?

At the end of Role Play, Emma and her family are alive and well and free from the agency that Emma once worked for. But does this mean that they are safe from harm?

If a sequel were to happen, we expect their lives would be put in danger again, presumably from Sovereign, the agency that Emma escaped from. This is just speculation as official plot details for a sequel haven’t been announced. But what do you think could happen in the sequel? Feel free to share your suggestions below.

  1. At the end of Role Play as the family drives away, Dave and the kids ask where are they going and Emma states she knows where to go thus leaving an opening for a second movie.

  2. I liked it. It was exactly what it was meant to be, a bit of comedy and action and seeing KC kick butt is great. It’s a show the family could watch together and have a laugh at a bit. I think there’s potential for a sequel with the “mom” definitely not being dead and raising her forces again and rather than recruiting Anna and her kids this time she determined to end all of them. Anna, Dave and the kids will need to outwit and fight and maybe a new friend (keep it interesting – someone they befriended) if they’re to survive.

  3. I think a sequel is 💯 Anna should have looked to make sure Gwen was dead and they should have killed the tranquilizers gauged, this has left an opening for potentially a squeal. Think the guard wakes and finds Gwen and she lives. Skip a year later and Gwen regains her forces and comes for Anna again. Another plot twist is they look a lot alike 🤔 maybe she is her mother?? Here’s hoping. It was a great movie

  4. A time skip to Rome or some other country abroad and sovereign sends a new threat a male. The kids are in school and Dave and the kids have been trained by Anna and the must survive the incoming attack from sovereign as a family now.

  5. The tranquilized guard at the compound can wake up … take Gwen for medical help so she’ll live. Emma & Dave have relocated but Gwen finds them again. Gwen turns out to be Emma/Anna’s Mother.

  6. Emma sister-in-law can be taken and she has to use her skills to get her sister in law back. You could fast forward 20 years and the children can have those skills to rescue their parents or just their mother with the father’s unskilled help.
