Toward The Area Boss

The Hushed Saint (Boss Fight)

Forsaken Fen

As soon as you start this new area, proceed forward and pick up 1x Map of Forsaken Fen. Talk to Thekh-Ihir just beyond this and purchase any gear you may need. There’s a boss fight coming up so it’s definitely a good idea to do this!

Head on down the linear path and attempt to cross the bridge. As you do, it’ll collapse and you’ll fall to the depths below.

Congregator of Flesh

Boss Fight – The Congregator of Flesh

The Congregator of Flesh is a large, disgusting creature with tentacles and sharp jaws. Not to mention numerous eyes. It’s also relatively slow but its hits certainly pack a punch.

It’s lopsided though, so it’ll favour striking with its large claw on the left side. It not only has an overhead slam, but it also has swipe attacks that basically sweep a good area in front of it. However, it will also do a backhand attack too, along with a horrible poison cloud that will do a good chunk of damage if it hits.

If that’s not enough, it also has a big attack where it’ll rush across the arena, attempting to hit you. If you attack from behind, it’ll also do a move where it’ll jump in the air and spin over and slam its fist down.

The idea here is to immediately remove the Umbral Parasite in the room and then target the large leg and try to stick close to this side. Don’t get caught in front or behind, and certain try to avoid the left side with the claw under all circumstances.

Furthermore, make sure you come equipped with gear that resists poison and items that remove poison too, both of which are essential for coming out of this in one piece.

When Congregator is down to about 50% health, it’ll use the rush move (listed above) and also a new slam attack where it’ll topple onto its side and try to squash you. You’ll need to be mindful of these and try to dodge out the way of both.

The fight is similar to the Bishop fight in Lies of P, for those who have also jumped from that game to this one, and the moves are similar in that there are very obvious wind-ups.

When Congregator lifts its claw to the sky, watch rather than attack and dodge just in time. There’s a few second window where you can get attacks in without reply.

Ranged attacks are also an excellent idea too, so feel free to stock up on these from the vendor. The final parts of the fight are particularly useful to use these, as Congregator becomes a lot more aggressive and will use the poison a lot more frequently. If you’re low on health, keep a distance and fire off some easy hits.

Eventually you’ll best this disgusting foe and come out on top.

  Rewards:
1x Vestige Seed 8x Umbral Scouring 8000 Vigor

Once the foe is down, be sure to activate the Stigma on the ground to gain 2x Umbral Scouring and 1x Remembrance of the Congregator of Flesh.

Next, proceed into the cave and use the Effigy to return to Axiom.

Head outside again and follow the linear path along. At the end of the wooden path, pick up 3x Poison Resistance Balm. Remove the water by returning to Umbral and head down the chasm to the left. Just to your right, next to an enemy, collect 3x Minor Fire Salts.

Proceed across to the other side and activate the Vestige of Valade. To the left is a passage leading to a locked door. Instead, proceed forward and you’ll find Byron there waiting. After talking to him, turn around to face the Vestige and pick up 2x Poison Resistance Balm from the ground. If you follow the path to the left, you’ll find 1x Poison Arrows.

When you’re ready, head up the path behind Byron.

On the way, pick up 2x Ammunition Pouch and 2x Small Manastone Cluster, and take out the enemy by the wooden bridge. Continue along the path and grab 3x Minor Fire Salts.

Watch out for the small enemies here as all of them will do poison damage if given the chance to hit too often. Just after this, you’ll find an Umbral Flowerbed too but it’s best not to waste your seed here.

In the next area, near a swampy pool to the left and behind a tree, you’ll find 2x Small Deralium Fragment.

Continue forward until you come to the fallen tree (pictured above). Now, you want to head to the right first, into Umbral and through the narrow passage behind the enemies to find a corpse up on the wall which happens to be holding an item, 1x Angel’s Axe.

Return to Axiom and head up the root on the tree in front. There will be new warrior creatures to fight here, along with toad-like creatures that also spew out poison too.

Dispatch the soldier quickly, given it has some annoying attacks. It has a particularly nasty habit of pushing you back on ledges, so you want to try and parry or dodge these and get rid of it quickly with a charged strong attack, if you can.

Once it’s down, proceed to the top and collect 2x Ammunition Pouch and 2x Small Manastone Cluster. At the far end of this upper-area, you’ll find a door which, when pushed, will link back to the earlier Vestige point.

Forsaken Fen – Upper Area

Before you proceed down the ladder, enter Umbral and climb the new ladder that will have appeared.

At the top, collect 1x Regular Deralium Nuggets from the crates to the right. Continue down and on the path to the right, by the fire, take out the warrior and collect 1x Harbringer – Tinct.

Turn round and proceed to the left path now, taking out any enemies that show. There’s an Effigy at the end that will return you to Axiom. Destroy the wooden blockage and be careful as one of those Bulwark bosses from the first part of the game will be waiting behind.

Kill the Bulwark and grab 1x Regular Deralium Nuggets from its original position. Continue along the long, linear path until you come to a bridge and a ranged enemy on the other side. Either quickly use your Umbral Lamp to pass over (to reveal a new bridge) or use projectiles to take it down.

Either way, take it down and then at the fork in the road, turn right. At the very top you’ll find 2x Smite Cure.

Now, proceed up the very strep, linear pathway and there will be another Bulwark here.

Take it out and continue moving up the path, zigzagging all the way Eventually you’ll come to a very familiar sight. It’ll be the opening to the Forsaken Fen area, where we fell down the gap!

This time, we’ll be on the other side so take out the patrolling soldier and by the corpse, pick up 1x Resh-Mesag’s Sword.

Now, turn back and head all the way down whence you came. Instead of returning to the starting area where the ladder took us up, take a right (where the crossbow enemies were originally standing). Enter Umbral and activate the Stigma. This will give you 2x Umbral Scouring.

Just behind this point, there will be a secret cave too. Head inside and at the far end, pick up 1x Shuja Harmony Hoop. Drop down from this point and you’ll find yourself right by the Vestige point earlier on.

Forsaken Fen Side Quest & Lower Area

Now, return to the Umbral ladder and this time, head to the right and push the ladder down. Climb down and dodge-roll through the wood behind. This will open up a secret area which happens to hold 1x Exemplar and 1x Cursewyrm Ring.

Afterward, continue down the narrow pathway and it’ll open up to a large bonfire and several more of these warriors lurking about. Kill all of them, and then look toward the exterior walls to find a side quest.

Side Quest – Kukajin

Dodge-roll through the vines blocking the path near the torches and speak to the NPC. You’ll see that they’re completely petrified and need some help getting free. In order to do so, lob the Empyream Grenade at her and she’ll speak to you. She’ll also hand over 1x Pendant of Induration.

Just behind her is 1x Wilmare’s Catalyst.

Now, this area actually loops back around to the tree, where we had a choice of going up or either side of. Follow the path along, taking out the warriors as you do.

When you reach an area toward the end of the wooden boards, with torches to the right, follow the path round and climb the ladder by the house. At the top, you’ll be able to grab 1x Shuja Warrior Spear.

Climb down and proceed across to wooden walkway opposite. When you do, loop round to the right to grab 2x Poison Cure (pictured below).

Now, head inside that very house we were on the rooftop of and find 1x Umbral Burrower. After grabbing this, head outside the house and enter Umbral. When you leave, you want to turn right and then turn right again so you’re descending down into a chasm. It’ll quickly ascend into a cave with numerous enemies inside.

At the end of this linear path you’ll find 1x Poison Javelin and a warrior guarding it. Pick it up and hop down toward the bonfire.

Optional Boss & Extra Collectibles

Now, return to the houses we just explored (beyond the large bonfire and the NPC spot) and this time continue forward. In this next area, you’ll find rolling enemies and more warriors. Take them all out and be sure to collect 1x Animated Vigor Skull and 1x Faint Vigor Skull.

Now, before continuing, you want to dodge-roll through the wooden wall to the right. There’s another warrior behind here but also a corpse we can use Soulflay on in a sunken arena area. Do this and collect 1x Verdure Ring.

However, enemies will pop up in quick succession so be sure to clear these guys out before continuing on. When you do, turn left and dodge-roll through to reach another area with enemies in.

Continue forward and you’ll reach an exterior section with a warrior on stilts waiting for you. Defeat this guy and continue up the hill. However, you want to quickly dodge back and hide round the corner as a bunch of boulders will roll down toward you. Avoid this and continue on.

Continue along and watch out for the second set of boulders by clinging to the wooden part of the path on the right. Kill the enemies and at the far end of this section, you’ll find a ladder you can push down. There’s also 1x Animated Vigor Skull that you can collect here too.

Go ahead and grab this before Soulflaying the doorway. In doing so, it’ll open up an optional boss for us to face.

Optional Boss Fight – Mendacious Visage

Mendacious Visage is a big lumbering foe but there’s a good tactic to use for this one to make life easier for yourself. First up, you want to Soulflay the corpses hanging up on the left and the right. This will allow you to head up the back of the arena. Take out the ranged enemies standing, which there should be three of them in total.

Along with a splash damage jump when he gets nearby, Visage has an array of ranged attacks. It’ll usually use projectiles and several different variations of which can do big damage. It’ll shoot out a whole bunch of missiles in your direction, and another which will see glowing slugs on the ground that will crawl toward you.

If you touch these slugs, it’ll take out some of your stamina, so the idea here is to keep moving and avoid these completely. With the extra bit of the arena opened up, this should make this fight a lot easier.

With the ranged enemies gone, there’s a good way to cheese this fight and make it super easy for us. Switch to the Poison Javelin and wait for the Visage’s head to open up. When he does, stand on the larger platform, and position yourself around the bonfire to avoid the projectiles. Hit Visage around 5-6 times to inflict poison and then run away.

This will then damage Visage over time. If your Soulflay gets low, there are pods you can recharge them from around the arena. This is probably the easiest way to fight Visage because the other way will see you trying to dodge slam attacks, skipping out the way of area shockwave attacks, and dodging missiles too.

You can also use your Soulflay to pen up Visage’s head too, which will allow you to get extra hits in. Furthermore, you can also do a bonus Plunge damage attack if you jump down from the wooden boards by the bonfire onto Visage. Eventually this guy will go down.

  Rewards:
1x Mask of Wrather  1x Vestige Seed 1x Precision Hammer

With the Visage down, head to the back of the arena (by the bonfire) and lure out the poison goons inside the little house Inside, you’ll be able to grab 2x Purifying Balm. Turn around and head outside the house. Go left, all the way until you reach another warrior and a house on the right.

Ener the house and pick up 2x Ammunition Pouch and 2x Small Manastone Cluster. Head out the house and circle around, where you’ll find a ladder to push down. Do this and continue round the back until you come to a straight path.

Go into the house and pick up 1x Vanguard Barros’ Rosary on the left. There’s also an Effigy in here too.

Toward The Main Boss

Remember the main path that we branched off to go toward the optional boss and the goodies? Well, this time we want to follow the path straight ahead. At the end of this path, you’ll come to a much larger area and also an Umbral flowerbed too.

Enter Umbral and proceed across the arena to the other side. Use Soulflay to open up the new path (by destroying the two corpses high up) and proceed inside the doorway.

Head through and turn right, circling back to grab 1x Forsaken Grenade. Go left at the fork in the road and use Soulflay on the corpse to grab 1x Umbral Eye of the Pale Butcher.

Continue back on the main path and proceed along to the right. In doing so, you’ll find a corpse off on one of the branching paths. Head that way and grab 1x Lucky Paw.

Turn back around and defeat the enemies before continuing on the path to the left. In doing so, you’ll come to a bonfire. Now, you want to destroy the parasite before taking out the warriors that are here. Go ahead and do that before finding several branching paths.

To the left, with the two skulls on either side of the entrance, is our area boss.

Just next to that is a small hut. You can actually reach this area by taking the path just to the left of the hut and circling around to the wooden walkways on the side. At the end of the rooftop, you’ll be able to grab 2x Ammunition Pouch and 2x Small Manastone Cluster.

Turn back and head right, where you’ll find an Emergence Effigy. Use that to return to Axiom and then circle around the hut. Dodge-roll through the door and grab 1x Putrefaction.

Back to the bonfire and circling around clockwise, you’ll find another walkway heading off (in the direction of a shortcut we can open up, with a plank kicked down back to the Umbral flowerbed earlier on). If you continue down this path, enter the hut on the right and grab 1x Pale Butcher’s Blade.

Back to the bonfire for now, we want to burst into this wooden hut (pictured above). Inside you’ll find another warrior with a parasite. Destroy both and grab 4x Small Deralium Fragment from the ground.

Next continue on the path to the right and use your Umbral Lamp to cross the gap. here, you’ll have a few more enemies to contend with but also 1x Pyric Cultist Staff and 3x Burn Salts by the cages.

Continue along the pathway and enter Umbral (if you’re not already). Drop down into the chasm and dispatch the enemies as they show up. There are two corpses to Soulflay and exit out but also also a chest at the far end on the left, which holds 1x Angel of the Void Armor.

That’s everything to see here so return to the Bonfire and when you’re ready, go along that path to the left toward the boss. Just before you reach the arena, there’s an Umbral Flowerbed on the right and it’s a good idea to use this because the boss ahead is not a walk in the park.

The Hushed Saint

Boss Fight – The Hushed Saint

Anyone else getting Elden Ring vibes from the Hushed Saint? Unfortunately, this horse-riding foe is not an optional boss, nor is it as simple as the foe in the early-game sections of Fromsoft’s open world behemoth.

Instead, Hushed Saint has two phases and both are challenging and difficult to prepare for. It has a huge shield and a large, menacing axe, along with the ability to teleport around the arena.

Phase 1

In the first part of this fight, Hushed Saint will ride his horse and also attack on foot. He’ll start the fight almost every time with galloping straight toward you. You want to dodge out the way of this and watch the water, as you’ll notice Saint moving quickly across the arena before poking up, throwing a sword and then fighting.

There are a couple of combos that Saint will use that can be dodged and followed up with some strikes, which is our ideal window to hit. There’s a two-hit, three-hit and a four-hit combo, the latter of which ending with an overhead slam. This is the easiest to avoid as you can get some good hits in afterward.

There’s a nasty impaling move to watch out for here too, which will basically see Saint hold out his spear, charge forward and attack. If that hits you, it’ll do some big damage.

The worst attack on the ground though comes from Saint charging up and sending out a big explosion. Vines will come out of the ground and expand out. It travels a big distance and it does a lot of damage too so you need to make sure you back off when this comes and rush out the way.

When Saint returns to his horse, he’ll gallop around the arena and the chances are, he’ll pop up, charge at you, and then disappear underwater again. Track his position by the marker underwater and prepare to dodge-roll when he emerges. Saint will do this a few times, and he may even pop off a few shots with his spear too.

Be sure to keep moving here and avoid all these attacks as best you can. However, you can make life easier for yourself by getting ride of the Umbral Parasites that are in the arena. Don’t switch to Umbral but get behind them, strike them down and it will cause thorns to rise up. The horse will disappear and Saint will be back on foot again.

Phase 2

With around 60% health remaining, Hushed Saint will switch things up and make life a lot harder for us. Not only will he be much more aggressive, but his weapon will also start pulsing and he’ll use a few more nasty moves.

One of these attacks comes from slamming his axe into his shield several times, and then conjuring the horse to come rushing at you. When he does this, Back off and sprint to the side to avoid the horse.

There’s a few more horrible magic attacks, mostly involving those thorns too. When Saint is down to a small amount of health, it’ll quicken the pace again and this time, use attacks in quick succession, usually with the horse conjuring and then a bunch of thorns pushed out in all directions.

It can be a real challenge here so it’s a good idea to switch to a ranged method if you’re really struggling during this last part. The combos are the best time to attack, and by now you should have a good idea of which combos are which. Eventually, you’ll manage to take him down.

  Rewards:
1x Vestige Seed  8x Umbral Scouring

With the boss down, enter Umbral and Soulflay the body at the far end to receive 2x Umbral Scouring and Remembrance of the Hushed Saint.

Return to Axiom and interact with the red beams by the tree to trigger a cut-scene.

Afterwards, turn back around and follow the torches to the far end of the arena. Head up the path and enter Umbral to trigger the Stigma nearby. This will net you 2x Umbral Scouring. Just beyond this, Thehk-Ikir is there to greet you, along with a Vestige Point behind. Activate this to unlock the Vestige of the Pale Butcher.

Beyond this, at the end of the path, turn left and dodge-roll through the carts to unlock a new area. There’s a corpse hanging with an item, 1x Panoptic Ring. There’s a small alcove behind one of the ruined buildings that holds 2x Briostone Trio.

There are a few other collectibles here, including 1x Ammunition Satchel and 1x Small Manastone Cluster, but be careful of grabbing anything inside the buildings.

One of these is a decoy and will show a reaper, that will show up and chomp you down, plunging you into Umbral. If you’re already in Umbral, it’ll kill you outright.

Instead, circle back to the bonfire and enter Umbral safely from there. Proceed across the gap and circle back on ourselves to kick the plank down and allow safe passage while in Axiom.

Now, turn back to the left from the plank you just kicked down and you’ll be faced with two paths. The one on the right leads to a dead-end, a sliver of vigor and a couple of enemies. Ignore this and instead head along the path to the left (pictured below)

Go all the way along the pathway until you reach some wooden planks on the ground.

At this location, continue to the left and follow the pathway along and you’ll find a ladder sticking up in the air. Lower it down and then head round the corner to grab 3x Poison Salts. Now, from the Poison Salts collectible, turn right and go all the way to the far end, on the right. You’ll find a ladder leading up to a bonfire here.

Head up the ladder and destroy the enemies congregating around the fire. Next, turn right and pick up 2x Poison Resistance Balm. There’s also a ladder we can drop here leading to an earlier part of the level..

Climb the next ladder and watch from afar as you’ll notice two groups of enemies fighting each other. Pick off the stragglers and at the end of the path, behind the ruined cart, you’ll be able to grab 1x Pendant of Burden.

Now, return to the plank we kicked down earlier and this time, head right into the cave. At the far end, grab 1x Map of Fitzroy’s Gorge. Use your Umbral Lamp to pass through the iron gates and then we’ll be in a new area.
