The Secret Score (La Partitura Secreta) – Episode 5 Recap & Review

Falsetto Andante

Episode 5 of The Secret Score starts with Rafa finding the attic, but he does not see the music score. He calls his master and tells him he will stay close to Connie and try to figure out where to find the score. Elsewhere, the friends follow Gael, leading them into Leo’s father’s office. It turns out the key that Maya saw in Leo’s bag is for the office. Maya accidentally opens a hidden vault when she touches the picture of a horse in the room, and they find Leo’s drawing book hidden inside.

At school, Max figures out that Connie can listen to their conversation using someone’s item when she tries to keep his scarf. He also reads her mind and discovers that she wants them to be more than friends. During breakfast, they discuss what to do with Gael, and Nati suggests asking him directly and erasing his memory. Therefore, Nati and Maya confront him about Leo, visiting the office in town, and the key, but he is not forthcoming and only warns them to stop investigating. Max accidentally opens up to Maya about the scholarship when he is stressed about the situation with Leo and Gael threatening Maya.

Regarding their music project, Dod advises Maya and Max to leave their comfort zones and do something they would not normally do. Therefore, Maya asks Max to teach her how to read music scores, so he excitedly takes her to some place and uses black and white coffee cup lids to help her learn. However, even though Dod suggests that Max try singing, the thought terrifies him, so he declines. Later, Max updates Maya about Gael leaving his room when Nati is teaching Tenoch how to swim, so they teleport into Gael’s room but do not find anything that could lead them to Leo. Maya touches the worktable in his room and brings Tenoch and Nati to the past, where they see Gael and Leo arguing about the music score. He tries to get Leo to tell him where to find the score and warns him that something terrible might happen to him as it did to his father. Tenoch gets scared when he learns that Leo’s father died.

Andy tricks Max by transforming into Maya to get him to admit his feelings for her. Max is disappointed that Andy is not Maya when he confesses his feelings. The slow club calls back, and they do not have a vacancy for Max to play, so he worries about tuition. Elsewhere, Maya finds out that the pendant is gone, and Rafa is the one who took it. They think Rafa, Connie, and Paulina are all working for Gael and are steps ahead in cornering them. Tenoch teleports them into the music room to look for the score; fortunately, Rafa does not find it. Max plays the score so they can reset their powers, and Pepe happens to be downstairs in the museum, where he also hears the music.

Meanwhile, Rafa tries to get his sister to spy on Maya’s group, but she insists that he tell her everything is happening. Rafa tells her everything while Maya’s group listens in using Max’s digital telepathy. They send Andy to ask Paulina about the pendant, so he transforms into Rafa. However, they realise that Paulina does not know anything, but it is too late, and she takes control of Andy, thinking it is Rafa. Nati rushes in to try to erase Paulina’s memory, but she orders her to leave them alone and uses Andy to understand the extent of her powers by asking him to kiss her.

Nati notices Rafa heading in their direction and distracts him while Maya and Max read his memory. When she asks about the pendant, he wonders how she knew he was in their room. Since Maya and Max are reading his thoughts, Nati leads his thoughts, and they realise that the pendant is in his room. She asks about Leo, but Rafa has no idea about his whereabouts. But they learn that the music score has two parts, and Leo has the rest.

Maya sends Tenoch to look for the pendant in Rafa’s room, but he cannot find it. However, he helps Rafa discover where they hide the music score through Connie when Tenoch forgets his sweater on a bench. Rafa gets into their room and finds the music score. He gets into a slight altercation with Pepe on the way out but still manages to make it out of the room with the score. At the end of the episode, Tenoch and Maya follow Gael when he exclaims, calling out Leo, who suddenly appears.

The Episode Review

The kids are making funny mistakes, and their approach to the situation is simple, both frustrating and refreshing. It gives them a degree of authenticity since they are just inexperienced kids trying to look for their friends, which makes the show even more interesting. Rafa is better at executing the plans, while Maya’s group just follows their intuition. In this episode, we learn that there is a second half of the music score, and Leo has it. What is the music score, and how is it connected to Leo or his father? In addition, Pepe happened to listen to the music score, too. What are his powers? Will he join Maya’s group or Rafa’s? Is Rafa working for Gael? In the next episode, I look forward to finding out whether Leo is back or if the person Gael sees is Andy.
