Final Fantasy 16 Guide – Main Story Quest #29
After reading Gav’s letter, the quest will start with us back at the Hideaway. Head back over to Otto and have a chat to start the next stage of our mission.
Leave the Hideaway after stocking up on Potions and double-checking your gear at the Blacksmith and Charon’s shop. There’s also one new Side Quest too. When you’re ready, head out to the Obelisk by Martha’s Rest.
Martha’s Subquests
Go into the inn and watch the cutscene that ensues. After, we’ll have another sub-story quest to complete before progressing.
Story Subquest #30 – Dark Clouds Gather |

| Soldiers have taken Martha and your mission here is to go and rescue her from the Imperial soldiers. Head out the inn and go west. Use the lift to go down and then follow the marker on the screen. On the way, you’ll encounter a cutscene just as you find Martha lying by the side of a bridge.
Keep going forward and you’ll arrive at Glaidemond Abbey. When you arrive, there will be a group of soldiers standing in your way. Inevitably, you’ll haver to defeat them. Once you’ve done so, the mission will end. |

After the subquest is finished, continue on to the building just left of the abbey to a small outbuilding. After watching the cutscene, we’ll have another subquest to complete.
Story Subquest #31 – Release |

| When you talk to the last remaining Bearer, he’ll hand over some ashes that you’ll need to spread. Not here though, as there’s a specific location east of this area. Follow the sign and be mindful of enemy groups that could be lurking about. On your way, you’ll encounter your first Notorious Mark, Ahriman.
These one-eyed guys are pretty tricky customers, but you don’t have to complete this now unless you want to. For the purpose of this walkthrough, we won’t go into specifics on beating him here. When you reach the marked location, go to the edge of the water and throw the remains in. After watching the cutscene, walk or fast travel back to Martha’s Rest and speak with Martha in the Inn to complete this mission. |

Back to The Hideaway
Once you’ve spoken to Martha, head on back to The Hideaway and follow the marker to find Gav. When you talk to him, there will be another cutscene. When this is done, you can travel across to a new area marked on the World Map, Hawk’s Cry Cliff.
