Final Socializing/Dating Time

July 5th

Welcome to Act 4, and this is it guys. We’re onto the big one now. It’s time to get that Stone back, and after a brief cutscene on the 28th June with Umbra and Delia, the train will depart and we’ll be joined by another. A post-apocalyptic train speeding along behind us? It’s not the Snowpiercer is it? No, of course not! It’s new guy Yohan. He’s the guy from our dreams but more importantly, he has coffee. What a legend!

This is our final companion joining the group and he’ll explain he’s on the Philips Express and is intending to head for Kafka Labs to save the world once and for all.

That night, you’ll arrive outside the lab and he’ll explain there are 50 different floors to this massive area. Thankfully, we don’t need to traverse through all of them, but it is the biggest dungeon we’ve visited so far.

When you regain control of your character, head for Yohan’s carriage and we’ll be back in our dreams again.

Follow Yohan along the linear pathway and we’ll see a bit more of the past. Another cutscene with “Glow Boy” will upgrade our skills before we’re onto the last leg of our journey.

July 6th

As before in this guide, our tactic was to brute-force through the dungeon on day 1 and then focus on growing ties with every character as best we can. If you’ve been following our guide, you can actually maximize and complete the companionship for Sia, Yuna and Min in one fell swoop. But of course, the choice is yours. You can deviate and grow ties with Yohan and Chani instead if you want.

It’s impossible to maximize everything in one playthrough though, but there is a New Game+ for those interested to know!

Upgrade your gear, level up your abilities and when you’re ready, let’s tackle this dungeon. Interact with the terminal and enter Kafka Labs. There’s nothing to see out in the entrance.

Kafka Lab Main Lobby

From your starting position, head right behind the desk and open the door to reveal x2 Black Essence.

Once you’ve done that, follow the linear pathway down, snaking along the staircase to the right and then the left. At the end of the corridor, you’l enter a larger chamber with two separate doorways leading off to the left and right. There’s a big tree in the main arena and the passage forward blocked off.

You basically need to enter both of these doorways, following the red line until you reach a motion-sensored turret and three panels on the ground. Step on the middle panel and wait for the turret to fire. Perfect dodge, and hit the two other panels to activate the area and turn it green. In the room to the right, there’s also x2 Black Essence inside one of the doorways.

Despite both pathways being open, we’ll have an arena fight to contend with before we can proceed. There are two black scythe-wielding wraiths that each have 1 shield. We need to use our skills to take them out before proceeding forward.

The Picture Puzzle

At the end of this hallway, we’ll have a new puzzle to contend with. This one will have a series of different panels that we’ll need to move left and right to complete the picture.

It’s quite straightforward, but if you just want some hints then skip the picture below. The biggest hint we’ll give is that the red parts of the picture are on the left of the frame. Here’s the solution:

Kafka Lab B4

Pass through the doorway and into the new area. This lab has a fair few puzzles we need to complete to get through to the next area, and some require you to do math. Don’t worry though, we’ve got all the solutions here! From your starting position, head down the hallway and take a right. There’s the illusion again that there’s more to see here but in truth, there’s only empty deviating pathways.

With just Sia in your party now, an arena battle will eventually pave way for you connecting over her ties with Ran in the office. There’s also a passcode needed for the door. The clues are dotted around the room:

“I was born a 33 year old”

“I’ve been through 4 great pains in my life”

“I died in apartment number 5

So the code for the door is 3345. You’ll need to remember that A = 3, B = 3, C = 4 and D = 5.

Head down the staircase and destroy the enemies in the next two areas, sandwiched by a small hallway that happens to hold a door leading to x2 Black Essence. Eventually you’ll reach the second lab, typified by a whiteboard with a laptop on. There are four clues here for the doorway and that’s where the previous numbers come in handy. Sia will eventually give some clues around this but let’s speed up the process!

The clues are as follows:

“E = A+B”

“F = C-B”

“G = D-A”

“H = B+D”

Using the numbers we learned from the previous room, we need to work out the basic arithmetic to open the door. So the code to open it will be 6128.

Follow the linear pathway along, down the winding staircases until you reach a T junction. On the right will be a red-lighted room. Head that way and behind the wall to your left will be x2 Black Essence. (Pictured below)

When you’re ready, head back down the corridor and follow the path to the left (by the blue sign).  Head inside, defeat the enemies and then we’ll have another puzzle. The terminal will give us a clue:

“Front: A + B + D – C, Right: E + F + G – H”

To speed things along, we basically need to take 7 steps forward from the green arrow marker, then one step to the right to open the door.

Mini Boss Fight – Boho8

Finally, another enemy with a proper name! Boho8 isn’t too tough but it does have some hard-hitting moves. It also has two shields that need to be broken. These can be done through using Sia’s Ice powers. Once more, we need to build up our elemental meter to break the shields down.

In terms of attacks, Boho8 will have a few big ones. The familiar circular lightning attack that Second Core used will be here, along with a jumping slash forward, a jumping fist strike, and a four-combo hit, which will see Boho spin several times while hitting areas in front and to the side.

Once the shield is down, you can use your Blast attack to interrupt moves. This is very useful when Boho is trying to charge up the lightning attack or the four-combo strike. You can cheese this fight with that ability, using it to knock down Boho and then hitting the standard strike/combo followed by a DeathBlow. Rinse and repeat.

Perfect dodges are a must here whenever Boho is using its striking combo, and these moves in particular are actually quite easy to dodge.

Ther’es not a whole lot else to this fight but using Blast and Stinger will definitely give you an edge!

  Rewards:
14x Black Essence

After the fight, Sia will finish creating the keycard and we’ll regroup with the gang.

Kafka Lab B4: Section 1

In this new section, our destination is in the main atrium with the tree. We want to head up the staircase and into the next area. Before you do that though, circle around to the other side of this area, defeat the enemies and open the door to the right to find x2 Black Essence. (Follow path 1 then path 2 in the picture below)

When you’re ready, head up the staircase and into the next area. There’s another save point here, in the middle of a larger arena battle. There’s a fair few goons too, so be sure to use Blast while lining up the enemies to do bonus damage to a large swarm rather than individually.

Take out the projectile enemies first then move toward the shield-protected minions. Once that’s done, move into the next chamber. The six elevators are all marked with red lights and none can be entered. It’s incredibly dark in this section, hence why there’s not a screenshot!

In the next area, there will be another section that looks like a labyrinth of winding paths and different doorways. In truth, there’s only one way to go and it all leads to the same area.

The screenshots above are quite straightforward and given this area has only one collectible (en-route to our destination) we can head straight there. Wind along the pathway, take the doorway to the right into the next lab and head down the stairs on the other side.

Once you reach the room with a cyan glow, head behind the stairwell we’ve just descended to grab x2 Black Essence. When you’re ready, head to the left for our destination (marked 1 and 2 on the screenshot below).

In this next section, there’s another puzzle to complete and this one is a little tougher.

The Second Picture Door Puzzle

There are 8 panels in total, and each can be rotated around as well as moved across the grid. The first thing we want to do is take the picture from the top right and make note of the sticker. We need to rotate that once so the sign is facing the bottom right and then move it down one space. From here, match up the next picture with clouds and a blue tail, then work around so the monster’s face is on the top right of the picture.

The black spikes should be on the left, while the blue water to the top right. The solution is here:

Proceed through the doorway to the next area.

Kafka Lab B7

Depending on how you’re getting on with your health, you may find yourself struggling a bit, especially if you’ve used a lot of your companion abilities already. However, there are some good sections where we can bypass a lot of enemy fights too.

From our starting position, enter the lab to the right and at the end of the room, enter an adjacent passage to collect x2 Black Essence. Return to the corridor and head ledt.

In this area, there will be a number of different rooms full of enemies. If you do decide to defeat them all, there are computer terminals that help fill in the backstory around the Eternights experiment.

Head through the first room, up the stairwell behind the first of these red terminals and into a much larger area. There are two pathways to go. The one on the right sees us face more enemies but will also see an additional doorway leading to x2 Black Essence. The other way is our destination, straight ahead, toward the blue monitors.

Once inside this room, circle around to the left, to find another terminal and a passageway leading deeper into the lab.

In this next area, there will be a compulsory arena battle, so be sure to take out the goons in here, using your Blast to take out the projectile enemies first. Head out this room from the opposite corner and you’ll be overlooking a strange industrial area. Be warned, there’s a tough boss fight here.

Head down the stairwell and enter this large arena. Delia will taunt Yohan over the radio and there will be a QTE section to complete as Delia will throw a wave of energty your way. Unfortunately, she’ll also conjure a new boss for us to contend with.

The Boss Fights

Boss Fight – The Crying Maiden

The Crying Maiden has some heavy, brutal attacks and it’ll certainly make the most of its bulky form. There’s a standard punching attack where it’ll thrust forward and try to hit you. There’s also a straightforward slam too, where it’ll crash down from a height to hit you. If that wasn’t enough, Maiden will also use a variation of this that’ll hit the ground for lightning damage and stun you if you’re caught.

Along with a single punch, Maiden will use a combo hit strike, slamming across 3 times to take you out. You need to perfect-dodge these attacks and hit back with your own strike/combo in order to build your elemental meter quickly. There are three shields to take out and if you’ve exhausted your companion bar, there won’t be any healing either.

The idea is to wait for Maiden’s single punch, and roll in the direction of the punch to get behind it and hit with the strike/combo.

Once the shield has been destroyed, you can take advantage of Stinger and Blast to turn the tables of this fight. Stinger will get you nice and close when it’s knocked down, and is a great option to use after Blast. Blast will interrupt all of Maiden’s attacks, including the combo strike too. Using these two moves, followed by an attack combo may bag you a bonus DeathBlow attack that’ll chip away at Maiden’s health.

The most annoying part of this fight is that shield so try and take this out quickly to then make the fight that much quicker.

  Rewards:
14x Black Essence

When it’s done, move into the elevator at the end of the passage and watch the cutscene with Delia. She won’t be happy and will confront you.

Boss Fight – Delia

First things first. Make sure Delia kills you. Put your controller down and watch her move-set. Why? Well, given we’ve just gone into this off the back of Maiden, our companion meter is likely to be depleted and our health has taken a battering. Once Delia has beaten us, we’ll spawn back in the arena again with full health and a full companion bar to use our abilities.

Phase 1

This fight takes place across two phases. The first phase is relatively straightforward but the second is chaotic, so we want to try and save our health for that if we can. If not our health then definitely the companion bar!

Delia will use a variety of different attacks in this first phase. She’ll slash forward with her dual-wielding sword, she’ll lunge forward and slice the air, and she’ll using a jumping lunge as well. There’s also a 3 hit combo to contend with.

If that wasn’t enough, she also has a projectile attack, where she’ll launch in the air and then hit the ground with a series of purple lightning blasts. Just like before, we need to tajke out her shields first before dealing damage. Make sure you only use Sia’s ice power as the others won’t put a dent in it.

Once she’s down to a sliver of health, Delia will draw on Umbra’s powers and phase 2 will start.

Phase 2

It’s wotth noting at this point that should you die, you’ll have to repeat the entire fight again and that can be quite tricky given the cumbersome way of skipping dialogue. If you die a few times, you may start getting some Kingdom Hearts PTSD with the Riku fight!

This phase will see Delia immune to standard attacks unless we’re perfect dodging first. Oh, and she’ll also have full shields up again, along with a couple of new moves. The worst will see her headstand and throw out projectile orbs across the arena.

The combo strikes are still here, but they’re joined by a spinning dive attack too. Finally, there’s a couple of punches that throw waves of purple energy your way, and a further sonic blast. The sonic blast and the strikes are the easiest to dodge but be aware that those strikes come with three punhes in quick succession. Try to dodge the final one and use this to get in the strike/combo and build your elemental meter fast.

You need to be smart with your health here too, and use Yuna’s healing patch on the ground, rather than straight-up healing. The reason being is that if we can hit a perfect combo in the pool of healing, we can heal at the same time as damaging Delia, and recover health quickly from cheap shots she may throw our way.

Once the shields are down, she’ll still be able to block standard attacks so you need to be patient and perfect dodge the strikes that you can. Use your elemental meter wisely, preferably when Delia is about to use the handstand orb projectile attack or the splash damage.

This will be a long fight, depending on what difficulty you’ve put the game on. Expert Mode makes this feel like a Dark Souls boss so if you want a bit of a challenge, crank that up!

Eventually you’ll beat Delia and complete the toughest boss in the game.

  Rewards:
20x Black Essence

With Delia down, she’ll theow out the keycard for Ran and encourage Sia to turn to the dark side. She won’t, and will eventually let her go. When you return to the train, go and speak to Sia and she’ll reflect on what’s happened. We’ve also now got 14 days until the ritual starts so it’s time to level up those social and dating stats!

Final Socializing/Dating Time

As before, this is the final time you can do this so it’s a good idea to make a separate save file at this point, especially if you did the dungeon on the first day.

With 13 days to play with, if you’ve maximized your time before, we can fully max up Yuna, Sia and Min’s stats. In fact, you could also take Min or Sia out the equation and level up Yohan to maximum level too, it’s completely your choice.

Be sure to use your scavenging in the evening to get more White Essence to unlock extra skills. It’s a good idea to focus on one character first to fully beef up your stats (Min’s Defence boost is a good move) and use the White Essence to either level up Yuna’s healing or Yohan’s stat-boosing abilities like the SP gauge or HP.

There are a few cutscenes dotted in along the way with this long-haul of socializing and dating, but the format will largely be the same as before. We just need to wait for this ritual to be completed.

The save files are useful here because if you want to gain all the achievements, the first run around we can level up Sia, Min and Yuna to unlock their promises (Rank 6) and then complete each of their final dates (by levelling up one of our personality traits to maximum level).

When you’ve finished the game, reload this file and focus on one of each of the girls each time, unlocking each of their specific dates and the achievements attached to them.

Finally, on the last free day, Chani will excitedly reveal that there’s a meteor shower and it’s our chance to go and see that with a loved one. Who you choose is completely up to you here, and you can even take Chani too.

July 21st

On the final day, the Totem Ritual will look to take place, and things will take a turn for the worst. Delia will awaken and transform into a monstrous form before blinking out and disappearing. Eerie!
