Cherry Magic (2023) – Season 1 Episode 9 Recap & Review

The Promotion

Episode 9 of Cherry Magic begins with Achi telling Karan about his magic powers but surprisingly the latter is not mad. Instead, Karan uses the chance to ask him to move in together since Achi must know how serious he is about them. Achi agrees and shows up at Karan’s condo who starts using the mind reading to mess around with him. At one point, he gives him a facewash and then fantasizes about putting it for him.

He is embarrassed but finds it funny when Achi reveals he can read Karan’s fantasies too. That night, they are nervous about sleeping in the same bed but both are glad with each other’s honesty. They hold hands and once again Karan cheekily wishes for a good night’s kiss on his cheek. Achi gives in and teases Karan for taking advantage of his powers. Achi also tells him how he got his powers and Karan is glad as he can profess his love all the time.

At work, Rock gets promoted and everyone celebrates. But a harmless comment changes the mood when Rock wonders about Achi’s promotion. Achi reveals that there is no way up for an admin and Karan looks sad. Later, Rock and Pai bicker over who will do a better job. He wants to take care of her, but she is too busy fangirling over Karan and Achi to notice.

Jinta’s book gets a movie adaptation and to celebrate, he invites Achi and Karan for a meal. Karan and Achi are super playful and romantic which encourages Jinta to text Min. While heading home, Achi confesses to Karan that he doesn’t know what he wants career-wise and Karan encourages him to try new things. 

The next day, Jinta gifts Min dancing shoes and clumsily confesses his love for him. He runs off but Min stops him and accepts his confession. Jinta runs off again but this time out of happiness.

At work, Tanaka overhears Achi’s newfound doubts and offers him a managerial role at a new branch. However, it is in another city and Achi will have to stay there for a month to get things rolling.

This puts a hitch as Achi is not sure if he will be able to handle a long-distance relationship. Pai worries about Achi which Rock needs help understanding. But he too worries about someone the way she frets over Achi and Karan, hinting that he is talking about Pai. Unfortunately, she thinks he is talking about another ship – Duj and Tanaka.

At home, Karan constantly takes care of Achi who feels bad about moving away. He doesn’t tell him but Tanaka anyway asks Karan to get an answer out of Achi soon.

Achi finally reveals to Karan that he will reject the offer. He doesn’t think they can do long distance as he might not be a good boyfriend if he cannot read Karan’s mind. But Karan promises to let him know whatever he is thinking. The one month is just a short time period as they will be together for the rest of their lives.

This encourages Achi and even though he is not ready to be a manager, he accepts Tanaka’s offer. He is not scared of the unknown anymore, thanks to Karan. At the end of Cherry Magic episode 9, Achi runs and hugs Karan who is proud of him. Achi feels great as nothing can beat the power of love and he kisses Karan.

The Episode Review

Leave it to Karan to take full advantage of the mind reading, he’s one of us. He’s so sweet he also doesn’t make fun of how Achi got his powers. This couple is super wholesome and Cherry Magic episode 9 just proves us that even more. No matter what obstacle is sent their way, they are able to quickly resolve it and move on.

And since we are in the final stretch of the Thai BL, the other subplots are picking up as well. Looks like there is a new couple on the block. Just how cute was Jinta’s confession? And the way Min finds him endearing, absolutely adorable. Just need Pai to shift her direction from someone else’s love story to her own.
