All American – Season 6 Episode 2 Recap & Review

Episode 2

Episode 2 kicks off with some tension between siblings Olivia and Jordan. Olivia is clearly uncomfortable being alone with Jordan, and when Spencer brings it up, she reveals that she’s planning to write a book about their father. She’s nervous about how Jordan will react to the book.

Spencer is also feeling the pressure of the media following him around all the time. They’re constantly asking about his chances of winning the Heisman Award and his potential drafting opportunities. Spencer worries that the media attention is affecting the team’s morale. So, on Olivia’s suggestion, Spencer decides to tell the media to back off and stop bothering him.

After training, Mac introduces himself to Jordan, praises his game, and claims to be a fan. Mac also says that he’s not happy about Jordan not getting the attention he deserves. On the other front, Spencer approaches Coach with a request to hold private training sessions instead of public ones to help the team focus without cameras in their faces.  However, Coach denies the request, stating that the media spotlight is crucial for the team to maintain its status as a powerhouse and intimidate competitors.

Later, Olivia confides in Jordan about her plan to write a book about their father. Jordan is initially understanding but becomes uneasy when Olivia reveals she already has a publisher and has started working on the book. Feeling overwhelmed, Jordan leaves in anger, telling Olivia to do as she pleases but not to involve him in the process.

Jordan and Layla have a chat about Olivia writing a book about their father. Jordan feels left out because he wasn’t told about it, and he’s tired of people keeping things from him. Layla asks Jordan to go easy on Olivia, saying she’s still grieving their father’s death.

The next morning, Olivia convinces Jordan to join her for dinner with their mother, where she plans to tell Laura about the book. Spencer is also coming, Olivia says. Meanwhile, we see that Patience is worried that Miko, who will soon be out on bail, might show up again with a knife like last time. Laila and Coop suggest they all attend a self-defence class to feel safer.

On game day, Spencer channels his inner Lionidas and delivers a rousing speech to the players, telling them to seize the moment and dominate the field. The team struggles, and Spencer offers advice to Jordan, but Jordan decides to play his own game. At halftime, Boone criticizes the players, calling them sloppy and lazy, and demands they focus.

Mac tells Jordan to use his strength, believing he can change the game. Jordan understands and goes on to score multiple touchdowns, leading the team to victory. After the game, all eyes are on Jordan. However, in an interview, Spencer announces that this will be his last season, as he plans to enter the NFL Draft.

After winning the game, Boone is pleased with the team’s performance but upset with Mac for going behind his back and discussing strategies with players. Mac defends himself, saying he’s just trying to help the team.

Boone reminds Mac that he needs to focus on all the players, not just Spencer James. Later, Boone confronts Spencer for not talking to him before announcing his decision to enter the NFL Draft. Boone feels Spencer let his ego get the best of him.

During dinner at Laura’s house, there’s clear tension between Jordan and Spencer. Olivia also tells Laura that she’s begun writing a biography about their dad. Laura is thrilled, saying she trusts Olivia to do it justice.

The Episode Review

Spencer is all set to leave GAU, and he made it official in front of a multitude of cameras by announcing his entry into the NFL draft at the season’s end. Once those words are out, there’s no turning back.

However, it seems like his decision was driven more by ego than pure strategy. Perhaps Spencer felt unsettled or insecure when, for the first time in a while, he wasn’t the center of attention during the interview; Jordan was.
