Episode 3
Episode 3 kicks off with the Condors scoring a big win in a crucial match. After the game, Spencer questions Jordan about not passing him the ball that could’ve easily led to a score. Jordan explains he’s just following Mac’s game plan and analysis. He reassures Spencer, saying there’ll be plenty more opportunities for him to shine and prove he’s the boss.
Later, in the locker room, Boone congratulates the team on their victory and announces that Mac is no longer just an analyst and has been promoted to offensive coordinator. Spencer corners Boone, saying Gutenberg is slowly trying to hand over his job to Mac, but Boone isn’t surprised, and his expression shows he saw this coming a mile away.
A few days later, Spencer gets a visit from several sports agents, one of whom says that Spencer’s performance has been on a downward trend, especially in recent games. This is a big red flag, and if Spencer doesn’t step up his game, breaking into professional teams will be an uphill battle.
Later that day, Spencer pays a visit to his old school and his former teacher, Preech. Preech asks Spencer to talk to one of his students, Deion, who’s been isolating himself from his football team and friends. Deion is a talented player, hailed as the next Spencer James. Spencer meets with Deion, who’s reserved and doesn’t say much but somehow, Spencer manages to convince him to join him for a private tour of the university.
During training, Mac implements new strategies that make Spencer feel like a mere decoy on the field. This heightens the tension between Spencer and Jordan, adding more to their already complex rivalry. The situation escalates, leading Boone to ask Spencer to leave the field.
Olivia gears up to start researching for her father’s biography and enlists Grace’s help. Grace, by the way, was Olivia’s father’s high school sweetheart. During their research, Olivia and Grace interview Denise, a big fan of Olivia’s father who also happened to be his stalker. Things take a tense turn when Olivia jokingly mentions Billy and Grace’s past affair.
The room goes silent, and Olivia quickly realizes her mistake. She decides to leave, feeling unsure if writing the book was the right move after all. Olivia returns to Grace, apologizes for her earlier comment, and asks for permission to ask a personal question. She wants to understand the reason behind her father’s affair with Grace.
Grace reveals that their affair happened because both of them were seeking solace and comfort, although she admits it was wrong. This conversation also presses Grace to realize that she still has some unresolved feelings for Billy.
Meanwhile, at his mother’s house, Spencer is visited by Eric, who is impressed by Spencer’s determination on the field. Eric apologizes for his boss’s harsh words and promises to persuade his boss to sign Spencer as a client. However, Spencer surprises Eric by saying he wants Eric to be his agent when he becomes officially eligible for the draft.
The Episode Review
Episode 3 of All American has cranked up the tension between the Condors’ top players, Jordan and Spencer. The blame falls squarely on Mac, who went from team analyst to offensive coordinator in just a few weeks.
Mac’s focus seems laser-targeted on Jordan, shaping the entire game plan around him. In contrast, Boone used to lead the team with a focus on everyone’s talents and weaknesses. If you think Spencer getting booted off the field and Jordan being told to take it easy will ease the competitive rivalry between them, think again.
It’s only going to get more complicated.
