Young Sheldon – Season 7 Episode 3 “A Strudel and a Hot American Boy Toy” Recap & Review

A Strudel and a Hot American Boy Toy

In the first scene of Young Sheldon Season 7 Episode 3, Sheldon approaches Mary and asks whether he can go train riding in Germany without her. However, Mary won’t budge an inch from her initial refusal to let him take the train alone. Sheldon tries to persuade her by saying that train travel is common for German children. Nonetheless, Mary is adamant that he not go on his own.

George Sr. writes a letter to Mary from Texas, filling her in on all the happenings back home. Meanwhile, Missy gets dolled up and approaches George, asking for permission to hang out with her friend Taylor. Since George thinks Taylor is a girl, he lets her enjoy herself.

In response to George’s letter, Mary writes to him to fill him in on what’s happening in Germany, including Sheldon’s request to travel alone by train. After this, Mary and George start exchanging letters as a means of communication.

After hearing about Missy’s friend Taylor from George, Mary naturally wants to know if it’s a boy or a girl. This raises suspicions and George confronts Missy. Missy, on the other hand, tells George that Taylor is gay. Following this, George lets her hang out with him.

In Germany, Sheldon secretly starts his train travels without telling Mary. However, one day, he gets stuck on a train station and calls Missy for help. Following this, Missy sends the message back to Mary. When Sheldon returns, Mary doesn’t tell Sheldon that she knows about him travelling by train. Instead, she lets him guilt trip instead.

Dale is taking care of Meemaw in Texas. Both of them seem to be struggling to adapt to each other. While Meemaw finds Dale’s guitar playing annoying, Dale can’t sleep because of Meemaw’s snoring. They come to an agreement and are able to coexist happily towards the episode’s end.

The Episode Review

Despite Mary’s disapproval, Sheldon begins using trains secretly in episode three. On the other hand, Missy is deceiving George and having an affair with Taylor. Meemaw and Dale are clearly struggling to coexist. George Jr. and Mandy, meanwhile, appear to be in a stable relationship.

The episode doesn’t accomplish much in terms of plot, but it delivers entertaining and humorous moments in spades. It’s terrific that the show is providing precisely what was promised, especially considering that it’s a comfort show. One of the show’s many strengths is the compelling storylines and characters.

Given that the first few episodes of the season have done incredibly, it’ll be interesting to see the direction the show takes moving forward.
