Under the Gun – K-drama Episode 6 Recap, Review & Ending Explained

Who wins between Go Gun and Tae Ha?

Episode 6 is a rollercoaster of wins and losses. On the first day, many gamblers get eliminated, but Go Gun, being a poker prodigy, manages to win his rounds and stay in the competition. His rival, Tae Ha, also fares well. The next day’s game starts, cards are dealt, and in a few hours, half the room is out. The finalists are then invited to play together in the titular match, deciding who gets a million dollars and who goes home empty-handed.

After a couple of hours, most of the finalists are eliminated, leaving only three at the table: Tae Ha, Go Gun, and an old man. Eventually, Tae Ha defeats the old man, setting up a final showdown between him and Go Gun for the silver trophy. Go Gun is visibly nervous because a lot is riding on this match—his sister’s medical bills, his father’s debt, and more.

On the other hand, Tae Ha doesn’t care about the prize money since he’s already rich. Tae is also an equally skilled poker player, making it very hard for Go Gun to read his face and figure out if Tae is bluffing or not. Even though it seemed like a long shot at the start, Go Gun triumphs and wins the competition, along with the million-dollar prize.

What happens in the end?

Now that Go Gun has won the competition, his smile has returned to him, and he’s relieved that all his financial burdens will disappear now that he has a million dollars, minus taxes. With this win, Go Gun can also focus on Se Young, his girlfriend who stuck by him through thick and thin. Se Young was there for Go Gun when everyone was spreading rumors behind his back. She was the only one who saw the good in him and genuinely wanted to help him.

As for Jun Hee, Go Gun arranges for her to have the bone marrow transplant she needs, ultimately saving her life. When she wakes up, Jun Hee shares a dream she had while she was asleep. She tells them that she saw her mother in her dream, who asked her to take care of her brother and father.

The Episode Review

With its finale, “Under the Gun” wraps up its short but eventful run. The drama revolves around a high school student facing pressure and challenges, but with the support of his talent, determination, family, and friends, he transforms his life.

While the show has its merits, it falls short in some areas. Despite being centered on Go Gun’s poker skills, the series rarely showcases them. This is disappointing for viewers who were expecting more card-playing action.

The final episode does feature a significant amount of poker, but it lacks the expected tension and excitement, especially for a match with a million-dollar prize on the line.
