Trillion Game (2025) – live action movie announced
Following the fabulous 10-episode Trillion Game series (Netflix, Bilibili, TBS), a live action movie featuring lead characters, Haru and Gaku, has been announced. Catch the live action trailer at the end of this story.
Based on a manga written by Riichirou Inagaki (Dr Stone, Eyeshield 21) and illustrated by Ryōichi Ikegami (Heat, Crying Freeman), the story will also release as an anime TV series on TBS. Here’s a trailer following the same plot as the original live action TV series.
To give you an idea of its popularity, since launching in December 2020, the manga has circulated more than 1.5 million copies. An English-language print will be available through Viz Media from Autumn 2024.
What is Trillion Game about?
Forget integrity, you won’t need it here. Japanese drama Trillion Game (Toririon Gēmu) is a perfect pairing of the scammer and the genius – think Catch Me if You Can as a duo. Linked by fate and mutual respect, middle school acquaintances Haru and Gaku prepare to achieve their ultimate fantasy, appearing on the World Billionaires list. A plan Haru sketches on the side of a building is just the thing.
Led by double-idol power, Haru is the smooth-talking, terribly convincing mastermind played by the fabulous Ren Meguro (My Happy Marriage, silent, My Love Mix-Up!). The equally compelling Hayato Sano (Kaguya-sama: Love is War, Tokyo MER) is Gaku, your uber-talented, perpetually flustered techy.
What will the Trillion Game (2025) movie be about?
Rather than rehash the series, Trillion Game (2025) will pick up where things left off, this time rising even higher as Haru aims for a casino. Of course, Gaku is appalled but will assist in Haru’s dream, as he always does. Won’t he? Get ready for the Trillion Casino.
When will Trillion Game (2025) be released?
Here’s what we know so far: the live action film will be released sometime in 2025. Filming is already underway, as you can see from the trailer below. So hopefully it will stream in early 2025. We’ll be sure to keep you updated.
Will it hit cinemas?
Hhmmm, we haven’t detected any of the details yet. But streaming service MUBI is promoting the trailer, so we’re sure to see it there at some point. Perhaps Netflix will be tempted as well…
Who is included in the cast of the Trillion Game movie?
The main cast features returning stars, Ren Meguro of J-pop group Snow Man as Haru Tennōji, the world’s most selfish man and Hayato Sano of J-pop group M!lk, Haru’s tech-wiz partner, Manabu ‘Gaku’ Taira.
Who is the director of Trillion Game (2025)?
Yoshiaki Murao (Fight Song, #bemyfamily), who directed the series, will return to lead the film. Scriptwriter Daisuke Habara (Bleach, Sign) and composer Hideaki Kimura will also rejoin the production after a successful series.
