The Simpsons – Season 35 Episode 3 “McMansion & Wife” Recap & Review

The Simpsons

McMansion & Wife

While at work, Homer is having a fantastic dream about being cool while driving a cool car. Later that day, Marge takes him to meet the new neighbour against his wishes. The neighbours seem easygoing. The owner of the new house, Thayer informs Homer that he has a sports car dealership in Springfield. Homer who earlier had dreamt of a car, is interested in testing the cars. Thayer welcomes him to his showroom.

Nelson is bent on giving wedgies to everyone at school – even adults. Lisa shows up, and she has a way to stop Nelson.

On the other side of Springfield, Homer is having the time of his life driving a nice sports car but in the back of his head, he is worried about Thayer being too nice to him. However, Thayer blows away his suspicions with more goodness.

However, later Marge and Homer find out that the new family has started the renovation of their house – a complete reconstruction in fact. It was Thayer’s plan all along to get Homer to officially agree to the renovation.

Lisa uses cyberbullying methods (embarrassing videos of Nelson to be precise) to teach Nelson a lesson. Nelson submits almost immediately.

Homer confronts Thayer about the renovation. Thayer calms him down by offering him a nice sports car for some time.

When Bart tries to bully Nelson, he learns that Nelson has seized control of Lisa’s computer with the help of Hubert Wong, another nerd. Fearless, Nelson resumes bullying in full swing.

A war breaks out between Lisa and Hubert. Seeing their argument, Bart and Nelson make peace. Later, Lisa and Hubert also become friends as they get to understand each other a bit better.

Thayer’s new house is built, and it’s so huge that it blocks the sunlight from reaching Homer’s place. Helpless, Homer and Marge just sit and murmur.

Homer confronts Thayer again to return the car key. He makes a compelling statement about how people with love in their hearts don’t need fancy cars.

The Episode Review

The latest Simpsons episode is a much-needed upgrade over the last ones. The main plot has strength, though the subplot appeared to be a mere filler of time. Homer’s signature feelings are on display, and his fans are going to enjoy it. In fact, you can call it a Homer episode. Is this a sign the season is going to get better? What do you think?
