Star Wars: Tales of the Empire – Episode 5 “Realization” Recap & Review

Realization

Episode 5 kicks off with Lyn and Barris Offee going on a mission to a remote planet to track down a Jedi reportedly aiding the locals. Their orders are clear, and they must eliminate the Jedi.

However, Barris hesitates and suggests that the Jedi may not have been involved in the plot to assassinate Emperor Palpatine. This irritates Lyn, who orders Barris to follow orders without questioning them.

Upon arriving at the planet, Barris is troubled to find it in ruins, with its people suffering from starvation. When she inquires about the cause, Lyn explains that these people often shelter enemies of the Empire, leading to their current plight.

Lyn interrogates the locals about the Jedi’s whereabouts, but they refuse to cooperate and say that there is no Jedi on their planet. She tries to manipulate them by portraying Jedi as sinister beings who enjoy causing suffering and controlling minds.

Eventually, Barris manages to learn from a young girl that the Jedi is hiding in the mountains. However, Lyn breaks her promise of sparing lives and ruthlessly massacres everyone using her spinning double-bladed lightsaber, the signature weapon of the Inquisitors.

On their way to the mountains, Barris confronts Lyn about the massacre, arguing that such brutality will only turn people against the Empire. Lyn, however, believes that violence will instil fear in the Empire’s enemies, quelling any rebellious thoughts.

As they find the Jedi, a fierce lightsaber duel ensues. Barris offers the Jedi a chance to surrender, and surprisingly, the Jedi agrees, deactivating her lightsaber. However, Lyn wounds the Jedi despite the surrender.

Barris pleads with Lyn to save the Jedi, but Lyn’s deep-seated hatred for the Jedi leads her to refuse. She says that the Jedi are vile and must be eliminated wherever they’re found. This shakes Barris to her core, and she decides to break away from the Inquisitors.

As the episode nears its end, Lyn leaps towards Barris, planning to cut her in half, but Barris uses the “force” to push her off the cliff.

The Episode Review

Barris Offee finally saw the light and realized the Empire was pure evil, thriving on the pain of others. They feared the Jedi so much that they ordered the infamous Order 66, which aimed to wipe out all Jedi.

Later, the Empire formed the Inquisitor Squad, made up of Jedi who had turned to the dark side, either out of confusion or manipulation. Their main job was to hunt down and kill any Jedi left.

But these Inquisitors didn’t stop there; they also went after anyone who dared to help or shelter the Jedi. Barris Offee eventually saw the error of her ways and decided to join the good side.
