Should I Watch: WandaVision?

Should I Watch WandaVision?

Yes, you should definitely give WandaVision a watch! This show begins as a slow burn homage to sitcoms gone by but quickly grows into something much more exciting than its initial gimmick would let on.

Sprinklings of uneasy dread, a nicely worked mystery and a distinct quickened pace after episode 3 help, with this show growing into a pretty slick slice of superhero action.

How Long Is This Show?

WandaVision is a 9 episode single-season show with a run-time between 25-35 minutes an episode. At the time of writing, it’s still unknown whether WandaVision will return for season 2.

What Is WandaVision Actually About?

WandaVision blends the style of classic sitcoms with the usual hallmarks of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The premise revolves around Wanda Maximoff and Vision, two super-powered Avengers living in a suburban neighbourhood where nothing is quite what it seems. The first three episodes stick to the sitcom style before the show starts to branch out and explain what’s happening with a back and forth style that breaks things up nicely.

The show blends drama, mystery and thriller genres together with a conventional Marvel action set-up.

What Language Is This In?

WandaVision is shot and filmed in English.

Where Can I Watch WandaVision?

WandaVision is available to watch on Disney+ on a weekly release schedule, with episodes going live every Friday.

Is There A Trailer For This?

Absolutely, you can check it out here:

What Do I Need To Know Before Watching WandaVision?

The show follows the timeline of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and specifically picks up after the events of Avengers: Endgame. Basic knowledge of Age Of Ultron is also helpful here too, which saw Wanda and Pietro fight the Avengers on the side of the AI machine Ultron. When they learned of his true intentions however, the pair switched sides which led to Pietro’s death.

Wanda was one of the unlucky heroes who suffered from the snap in Infinity War too, which saw her dusted only to return in Endgame to fight alongside our heroes. Vision meanwhile, was killed in Infinity War.

What’s The Age Rating?

WandaVision is a PG Rating. It’s a mysterious drama with small pockets of horror, which explains the rating itself. Parents should probably be aware that there’s a couple of scenes depicting dead bodies too which may be unsettling for younger viewers.

Beyond that though, WandaVision is pretty accessible and recommended for any superhero, mystery or action fans.

Who Are The Main Stars?

Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany play Wanda and Vision respectively. There are also starring roles for Teyonah Parris as Monica, Randall Park as Jimmy Woo and Kat Dennings as Darcy Lewis.

What Other Shows Are Like WandaVision?

WandaVision is a tough one to nail, given how broad its influences are. However, it feels like a big mash-up of Sabrina The Teenage Witch, Agents Of Shield and most of the conventional Marvel movies.
