Sengoku Youko – Season 1 Episode 6 Recap & Review

Misfortune

In Sengoku Youko Episode 6, Shinsuke obtains Raidou’s Demon sword. As they’re walking through the forest, Tama sniffs out some legendary liquor and finds Shoujou carrying it. After a brief negotiation, they take them to their guest for whom they have been collecting the liquor.

The guest is a Dangaisyuu Beast Leader who recognizes the main temple invader but decides not to take any action as he wasn’t asked to subdue them. Tama challenges him to a drinking contest, and they drink to their heart’s content. Douren tells them about the Katawara tiger he had fought for the Shoujou. They also inquire about Jinun, whom he identifies as a rival of his. Shakuyaku ends up lasting the longest.

The next day, the group continues their journey and arrives at a village protected by a force field. Jinka manages to get Tama through the force field so she can find a way to close it.

She ventures into the village and finds a Katawara who sets up the force field. The Katawara named Fukou shows up and explains his wish to preserve the village, preventing happiness from leaving and sadness from entering.

In the meantime, a Dangaisyuu shows up to hunt Jinka, and a battle erupts between them. Without Tama, Jinka is unable to use his spiritual transformation and decides to fight without it.

Tama explains to Fukou that it is not reasonable and that things happen, and they have to move on from them. She also appreciates Fukou, and this is the first time someone has appreciated him in years. This causes it to perish, and the force field vanishes with it.

The Dangaisyuu hits Jinka into the village, and he does his spirit transformation with Tama. This enables him to defeat the Dangerous with ease. Jinka is disappointed he had to rely on the spirit transformation. The group continues their journey at the end of Sengoku Youko Episode 6.


The Episode Review

Sengoku Youko Episode 6 finds Jinka and the others on the run from Jinun, encountering two more Dangaisyuu on the way. Douren isn’t provoked by their presence and instead has a good time with them, as he hasn’t been asked to subdue them. They also end up sharing drinks while he tells them stories from his experience.

They also arrive at a village protected by Fukou. Tama delves into philosophical matters to explain that one cannot cling to things forever. She explains that change is natural and one cannot cling to it forever. Her appreciation of Fukou made the difference in this case.

Jinka is also very disappointed in himself and finds himself trying to defeat as many opponents as possible without using a spirit transformation. In the coming episodes, he might fight without a spiritual transformation to hone his skills and fight Jinun as the goal.
