Renewed Or Cancelled?
The Walking Dead has been a hallmark of AMC’s programming since the early 2000’s. The show has spawned numerous spin-offs and movie ideas, along with a loyal following hanging on the gang’s every adventure. It seems there’s no end to this hugely successful zombie franchise.
If you’ve been following this one over the years, you may be wondering if this one has been renewed or cancelled. Well, wonder no more! Here’s what we know about a renewal:
What is The Walking Dead Season 11 about?
The Walking Dead Season 11 is the final chapter in the show’s long run and adapts material from issues 175-193 of the comics. Here, we focus on the group’s encounter with the Commonwealth, a large network of communities that has advanced equipment with over 50,000 survivors living in different settlements.
We also get confrontations with the Reapers, a mysterious faction of hostile survivors that attacked and took Meridian, the former home of Maggie and her new people, the Wardens.
Has The Walking Dead been renewed for season 12?
At the time of writing, The Walking Dead has not been renewed for season 12. The announcement of this actually came about before the show aired, with AMC billing this as the final season. Now, it could be that the show pulls an “Attack on Titan” and claims it’s the final season and then suddenly throws extra parts out there with a “To Be Continued” but that seems highly unlikely.
However, there are numerous spin-offs in the works, including a standalone Daryl series, a separate Maggie and Negan drama, and finally a Michonne and Rick AMC show. So although the franchise starter, The Walking Dead, is ending, the show’s roots are very much spreading in different directions.
In the meantime though, we can definitively confirm that The Walking Dead will not be returning for season 12.
What we know about season 12 so far:
As detailed above, season 12 is not happening as AMC have already announced that this one has been cancelled. However, expect next year (2023) to be full of Walking Dead spin-offs, as detailed above.
Although the ending to the show is different to the comics, The Walking Dead’s finale on November 20th 2022 marks the final chapter of this illustrious series.

Walking Dead was without question the best series to ever grace the big screen. There’s truly so much more to tell , that I’m surprised that you’d end it all forever! This combo of actors and actresses is unbeatable! Take some time! Think it over! Maybe we can see you in 2013 give or take! I can tell you I’ve got some truly amazing ideas on the future. One of the best series ever. Rick was the bad boy full of excitement and the unexpected when they took him I almost stopped watching the series. If it wasn’t for Darryl, who is so sexy, love his voice and masculinity. Throughly the entire show I kept hoping they don’t kill my boy Darryl. Negan was hilarious and so I kept watching the series once Rick left for both of them. Then there is Eugene who was so warm and fuzzy his speech felt like it tickled me, I love his way of talking using big vocabulary to express himself. Please please do not stop filming! I need closure what happened to Rick and Michonne and the kids. And what is Darryl and the rest of the gang going now? I am truly heart broken that there are no other seasons to come after season 11.
I’m devastated. It’s like I’ve lost a member of my family. It’s not right to leave loyal fans hanging like season 11 did.
I love.this show it has been one of the best in the world and I know it don’t end so co.e on and let’s us know when season 12 will start I feel in love with ever character in this movie has if I’ve known them in real life for along time it felt like we were family with these characters so please I beg don’t end this here let’s all continue ours lives together through this series
I wish you could make another for season 11 to see Rick with the other characters and I hope you keep making more seasons because I love this so I don’t want to stop watching this so please keep making more episodes and season or I would be sad💀💀💀💀💀😭😭😭😭😢😢😢😢😭😭😭😭😭

Me and my husband we were watched all the seasons of walking dead we loved watching it so please realise the season 12 please please. It not could be ended on just season 11.
They were still filming in December 2022 in Coastal GA! I guess we’ll see what that was all about!
Hi well I have been watching the walking dead series from season 1 to season 11 at the end of season 11 they showed Rick and michonne I hope u guys will bring more season of the walking dead I love watching the walking dead I love Daryl if u end the walking dead the people that played on it will be miss by all their fans so please bring more season please

What the hell! First of all 11 is a bad luck number, so do “12”. Plus, we all know you have WAY TOO MUCH TO WORK WITH, to just end at 11.

Oh my goodness, I’ve just watched the very last episode 😢 I’m so sad this has now finished 😭 I’ve watched every episode and for them finish it like they have is so unfair. I want to know what happened to Rick and michone and I want to see them all together again…pleeasse make more! As a lot of fans have said..there is so much more than that!!!
I’m still in shock that this is the very last episode of any series , from day 1 I was hooked , there’s soo much more to give . I cried soo much and this can’t end , producer’s listen to the fans .
This show has become a huge part of our lives. We have watched every episode from every series, we have watched the seasons over and over, it would be amazing if they decided to do a season 12 and 13 with showing where michonne and Rick find each other, then once again they join the rest of their family. We need a good and real happy ending, I think we all deserve that. AMC needs to do more seasons we the faithful fans need more episodes. There is still so much of their journey to be told, new adventures, TWD still has so much more, it’s not a storyline that has run dry, there is more and AMC know this!!! Come on guys, what is there to loose!!!
I love love love this show , I’m so sad that it’s ended.I knew Rick would come back but why didn’t it show him reuniting with judith? How could it be over already? This one made me ball my eyes out.:,(
So sad to have watched the final walking dead. I understand there will be spin offs for Daryl, Maggie and Rick and michonne. Hopefully it’ll be going forward with Daryl. I hope Maggie is not going over past events we’ve already gone through. I’d like a series for michonne and Rick as they have a story of their own and I hope it all comes together and they get back, however, what is the story of the people who are chasing and captured Rick, that’s the story I want to know, or have I missed something. Bring it on, please

I cannot believe they are ending such a fantastic program. There is so much more that can done with this.
From the rebuild to the finding, absolutely endless. You must have made a lot of money from this show so why not keep on going.
I for one will miss seeing such brilliant acting.

We know Rick is about working at a ice cream place, we thought we would end up seeing him again in the show.
You shouldn’t end a show in a episode 11 it doesn’t feel right, you can do better let’s go to episode 15 or more. We all love the show so why end it, doesn’t make cents.

PLEASE bring back TWD for S12! It’s a fabulous series, the acting is awesome, it’s a money spinner for AMC and it just gives the viewer everything a decent zombie series should. You can’t just leave it where it is at the end of S21, you just can’t….

The Walking Dead’s a brilliant series it would be a discredit to end this as there is plenty of room for more story lines. also, it would great to find out the outcome off Rick and Michonne plus children?

I love this show so much, have been watching since when I was 12 years and am 22 years now, I so much love the show wish the could continue. And I think the show can’t just end like that without seeing rick, michonne, Jadis at least we should see their coming back together. I so much miss rick in the season. Wish he could come back pls

Best tv show ever, gutted it is coming to an end. Getting Alexandria back could have lasted a few more seasons. AMC should reconsider ending it, for the loyal fans that have been there since the beginning.

I am really going to miss TWD series. I’ve been watching since the series started and waiting for each season to start and pick up again. Even though this has lasted longer than any other series of this type, I will truly miss it and the excellent actors that I have come to know.

The spinoffs are fine, but would not be as great as the mothership TWD series.

I have been a faithful watcher of the walking dead since season 1 episode 1. Millions of people are addicted to this series. I am one of them. This series is part of my life and just about everyone I know lives. The series ending is breaking my heart. Please don’t end it. It’s the best thing I have ever watched. Daryl is my favorite but I love everyone on this show. They have become part of my family.
The series became a ‘part of our live’ we’re gonna miss it as is. But looking forward to see Rock & Michonne again.
