Echoes is the latest twisty-turny thriller on Netflix, with plenty of drama, soapy shenanigans and a lot of bad blood in the past. If you’ve finished watching this one, you may be wondering if this has been renewed or cancelled. Here’s what we know:

What is Echoes about?

Echoes is a murder mystery that doubles up as a thriller, with plenty of twists across the 7 episodes.

The story centers on identical twin sisters, Leni and Gina. They’ve secretly swapped lives since they were children, leading to double lives as adults. When Gina goes missing, Leni heads back home to investigate. In doing so, the meticulously crafted world she and her sister have created turn upside down as secrets are unveiled and destroy everything they’ve built.

Has Echoes been renewed for season 2?

At the time of writing, Echoes has not been renewed for a second season. Given the nature of the show’s format, that could well change if it does good numbers for Netflix.

Generally Netflix gauge numerous metrics before renewing a show, including how many people initially watch it and then looking at the drop-off rate.

With some shows, cancellations or renewals happen quickly (ala. Squid Game, Bridgerton & Irregulars) Other times, it can take months before Netflix make a decision over a show’s future.

So far, Echoes has had a pretty mixed reception with most critics giving this show bad reviews and audiences (at the time of writing) pretty split across the board. This is ultimately one of those airport thriller stories; easy to pick up and easy to forget when you’re done.

Taking everything into consideration, we’re predicting that Echoes will not be renewed for a second season. There’s definitely potential here but the story feels like it has run its course despite that baited cliffhanger ending.

What we know about season 2 so far:

Barely anything is known about season 2 at this point, given Netflix have not green-lit a sequel. The conclusion does open things up for a follow-up though, despite this being listed as a limited series.

If this one is renewed, we could well see Floss intensify her investigation, diving into the past and looking deeper at the history of the twins and what’s driven them to this point.

  1. I love this series.. I hope there is a Netflix season 2.. One thing I have learned when watching Netflix so called limited series that means there’s not going to be a season 2. So, why bother watching season 1 Limited series if there’s not going to be a season 2 . There’s so many of these going on with Netflix and maybe that’s why Netflix is going down, because they can’t continue And leaving people hanging.

  2. I loved the series and hope more if not all the lingering questions will be answered in a second season. With all the twists and turns I may have to watch it several times just to get all the paths straight.

  10. A bit confusing at first, but following episodes cleared things up brilliantly. I really hope they do another few seasons. Seems loads of interesting story lines can follow

  11. It took a while for us to figure out who was who, but we were hooked from the get go! Would love to see Floss dive further into investing the twins past and what there lives look like in the future. Netflix certainly has places to go, I hope we get to see the writers mind at work on screen!

  25. This was one of the best limited series that I’ve seen in a long time! It kept me glued to my television and looking forward to another season!

  30. It was obviously Leni that was there at the end with Charlie, cuz Gina is pregnant, so she had to be the one that showed up at the book reading, right???

  31. As far as I can see Leno was stronger and manipulated her sister Gina, but now both sisters are with Charlie, will Leni kill Charlie? Will Floss finally realize that Leni the Lion was the one that started the church fire ? Mattie doesn’t need a mother like her!!

  35. I rented some equipment to Netflix for this series and met part of the crew while delivering the equipment, then when picking it up when filming was nearly done. The crew members that I spoke with were not optimistic that there would be a 2nd season. This was especially true as filming was wrapping up.
    I was told a bit about the plot line and didn’t have high expectations for the show. However, I’ve seen 5 episodes now and am shocked that it is getting bad reviews. So far, it has been a thrilling rollercoaster ride. I can’t wait to see how they wrap this up in the final 2x episodes. I know a few details from talking to the crew on set, but at this point I have far more questions than answers.

  37. Enjoyed it and would like another season It was a good season and want to read the book although it was confusing but intriguing at the same time and enjoyed the characters and did a great job

  39. I binged watch alll 7 episodes and you are left hanging hoping for more. That is the first thing I did was look to see if there will be a season number two. I thought the show was great. I liked the cliffhanger ending but it definitely left you wanting mor.

  40. Love to see season two. This was very well written it leaves you guessing please bring back another season.

  43. I thoroughly enjoyed the series, but I did not like the ending. Leni was obviously the “bad” sister, but I thought that would have been resolved finding out that her father was helping her mother die, not “killing” her as she had though she had seen, so why would she have “settles” to score? Not sure it needs a second season though because that is the only unresolved question.

  45. Absolutely amazing! Incredible writing and acting across the board! Bring it back! I binge watched the entire thing with my husband. We were mad that it ended..

    I can see a series 2.
    Just pick up at the point where The one that survived the falls returns..
    A good mystery has no ending.
