Renewed or Cancelled?
In the second season of Avoidance, the question of whether or not Jonathan (Romesh Ranganathan) and Claire (Jessica Knappett) will get back together or not still lingers. He is still in love with Claire but as she has a hunky new boyfriend named Brett (Matthew Lewis), the chances of them getting back into a relationship are slim.
After watching all the episodes of Season 2, you might be hoping for a third season. But will there be an Avoidance Season 3? Here is what we currently know:
What is Avoidance about?
Jonathan and Claire take centre stage in Avoidance as they each navigate life without one another. But they aren’t the only people whose lives we follow in this comedy series. We also meet Spencer (Kieran Logendra), the son of our two protagonists, who faces his own life challenges throughout both seasons of the show. Two other prominent characters are Jonathan’s sister Danielle (Mandeep Dhillon) and her wife Courtney (Lisa McGrillis) who, in Season 2, are expecting a baby.
Avoidance has some weighty themes surrounding the complexities of relationships and co-parenting but it’s not an emotional drama about family dynamics. This is a warm and witty show that is never-less-than-amusing due to the comedic performances of its talented cast.

Has Avoidance been renewed for Season 3?
At the time of writing, there has been no official word from the BBC about a third season for Avoidance.
Generally, the BBC, like other TV networks and streamers, gauges numerous metrics before renewing a show, including how many people initially watch it and then looking at the drop-off rate. With some shows, cancellations or renewals happen quickly (ala. Squid Game, Bridgerton etc.) Other times, it can take months before a show’s future is decided.
Avoidance is a show that has picked up a lot of fans. However, we think a third season is unlikely. This is because of the way Season 2 ended. We won’t go into spoiler territory, just in case you haven’t seen the second season finale yet. But as it ends in a way that wraps up story arcs for all the main characters, we don’t think there’s a need for Season 3.
Of course, we could be wrong. If a third season is announced, we will update this page with new information.
What could Avoidance Season 3 be about?
In the unlikely event that there is a third season, it would likely focus on Jonathan and Claire and their continuing efforts to get along with one another. Danielle and Courtney’s relationship will probably be a focus too, especially in light of the new addition to their family who is bound to cause a little tension between them.
This all depends on another season being given the green light, of course. As this hasn’t been confirmed, all we can do at this stage is speculate. But what do you think could happen in Season 3? Leave us a comment below with your suggestions.
