Renewed Or Cancelled?
1899 is the latest mystery sensation, straight from the brilliant minds of the creators for Dark, the twisty-turny German Netflix Original. After finishing all 8 episodes, you may be wondering if this has been renewed or cancelled. Here’s what we know:
What is 1899 Season 1 about?
A group of European migrants leave London on a steamship called the Kerberos. They’re determined to make a new life for themselves in New York.
However, on the way the Kerberos encounters another migrant ship, long-abandoned for months in the ocean called the Prometheus. As they begin to probe deeper into this strange ship, the more sinister, disturbing and horrific the mystery becomes. What starts as a simple voyage soon escalates into so much more, as every passengers begins to question the nature of their reality.
To give much more away would be a disservice to this series and it’s one of those shows you should take your time with – although the desire to binge is strong with this one!

Has 1899 been renewed for season 2?
At the time of writing, 1899 has not been renewed for a second season.
Generally Netflix gauge numerous metrics before renewing a show, including how many people initially watch it and then looking at the drop-off rate. With some shows, cancellations or renewals happen quickly (ala. Squid Game, Bridgerton & Irregulars) Other times, it can take months before Netflix make a decision over a show’s future.
Unfortunately, despite earlier predicting that this will be renewed, Netflix have announced that 1899 has now been cancelled. That’s awful news for fans of the show and we’re just as bummed about the news as you are.
What we know about season 2 so far:
Barely anything is known about season 2 at this point, given Netflix have just cancelled the show. Unless another studio pick this one up then it seems this is the end of the road for the German mystery series.

They have to do season two I need to see what happens next, I watched all 8 episodes in two sittings this was brilliant BRING BACK THIS SHOW seriously excellent show 👌👌👌👍👍👍👍😄😄😄
I usually don’t watch a show with many episodes as I takes a lot of commitment to see it through. But I have to admit, I am more then ready to watch a season two. Hopefully Netflix backs the second season soon.
It was definitely not at all what I was expecting it to be which makes it very entertaining. Everytime I see a series that I think is going to be awful and or boring. When I finally get around to check it out I’m kicking myself in the ass for not watching it sooner. This is definitely 1 of those series and I am hooked. Dying to see where it goes from here, I definitely see a season 2 coming and hopefully they can keep it as twisted and entertaining to keep it going. I absolutely recommend it.
Yes! There needs to be a second season. We can’t be left hanging. I need to know what happened to the others, will they wake up? I need back story on the why, what and where.

I thought it was exciting and it kept my attention, watched all 8 episodes back to back.. what a way to end this season. I was captivated through the whole 8 episodes. Kudos to the writers.. Can’t wait for there to be a season 2… ( hopefully)😉😉

I’ve literally never left a comment about a show in my entire 35 years of existence. I’m just not the type to voice my opinions in a dark, eternal, extra-existential reality that is “the internet” and as I’m writing this I’m also discovering why I am so compelled to write this. This show is an incredible journey, even more-so than dark, for me. And my review about the internet, navigating life in this modern time, completely parallels my journey with the show. Please get season 2 out immediately.
I hate series that do not come to an end in a single season and after three episodes it looks like 1899 is one of those. Start a dozen mysteries answer nothing and hope everyone is dumb enough to keep thinking you will make sense out of something. Forget it!!
