Warrior is set during the Tong Wars in the late 1800’s, following Ah Sahm, a martial arts prodigy from China, as he becomes a hatchet man for the most powerful tong in Chinatown. There’s been plenty of action, drama and thrills across the three seasons, making for a really enticing watch.

If you’ve finished watching this one, you may be wondering if this has been renewed or cancelled. Here’s what we know so far:

What is Warrior about?

After ending on a crazy cliffhanger, season 3 picks up in the aftermath of simmering tensions. The Hop Wei is led by Young Jun, who are still in a territory clash with the Long Zii, but acting mayor Walter Buckley, backed by Sergeant Bill O’Hara at the San Francisco Police Department, have helped stifled any hope of rebellion.

Ah Sahm is still right in the thick of this but after the revelation that Mai Ling is his sister, working within the ranks of the Long Zii, he’s forced to try and earn that respect again. But can he do that with all-out war threatening to plunge everything back into chaos again?

Has Warrior been renewed for season 4?

At the time of writing, HBO have not renewed Warrior for a fourth season. Given the nature of this series, that could change if it does good numbers for the streamers.

Generally HBO, like other streaming platforms, gauge numerous metrics before renewing a show, including how many people initially watch it and then looking at the drop-off rate. With some shows, cancellations or renewals happen quickly. Other times, it can take months before a decision is made over a show’s future.

So far, Warrior season 3 has had a great reaction from audiences and critics alike, with the series easy to watch and also armed with a simple but effective hook.

With all that in mind, we predict that HBO will renew Warrior for a follow-up season. It may not be doing massive numbers for the streamer, but it is a very reliable action drama, with a dedicated fanbase and plenty of opportunity for more expansive storylines to come.

What we know about season 4 so far:

Not much is known about season 4 at the time of writing, given HBO have not officially renewed this one yet. Should the streamers decide to greenlight this one, it’s fair to assume that the ongoing rivalry will continue, while plenty of action and drama will be intermingled into the politics too.

It’s likely that HBO will make an official announcement several months from now, once the final viewing figures are in, but for now we’ll have to wait and see. We’ll be sure to update this section with more information as it becomes available.

  1. When it came on Netflx I had never heard of it before so I decided to watch 1 episode. I binge watch all 3 seasons in 2 days. Fantastic series now waiting for season 4

  3. OMG…HBO get a clue! This is the best series ever! Baby Boomers grew up watching David K. And Bruce Lee…this series flowed so effortlessly I m on my 6th repeat watching Season 1,2,3….waiting for #4…and 5…So many great characters you can keep Warriors going for 2 or more series of 10 shows at least…please don t kill Wang Chaio off….I wanted season 4 to come soon we could see Chaio resurrected after Zing stabbed him…waiting impatiantly..someone please pick up Warriors If HBO won t…its just crazy not too…Ah Toy s dresses are so much fun to look forward too…just beautifully done…this entire 3 series of Warriors….Oscars to everyone in the show….Please bring more Warriors to HBO MAX….

  8. Obsessed with this show! My husband and I both comment with our friends about the show and argue about our favorite characters. This has show has to brought back for more seasons we are to invested only reason why we all subscribe to Max!

  9. I did not think the show had run its course, at least that was my thinking until I viewed the season 3 finale. That carnage left little doubt, the writers were trying to tie loose ends, such that the audience could have closure, regarding the characters living out their imaginary existences. Allies who became enemies became allies, certain evils were dealt with, some good compelled by circumstances to do evil did not die, and some good, who cared about evil characters were also dealt with in a good way. In summary, I really wanted a season 4 before seeing the season 3 finale, but with so much carnage to individuals and relationships, I no longer see a path forward. The main carnage was to a future, except basically starting a new series with certain actors. This was a swan song with little chance or resurrection of Warrior being even slightly viewable to the current standard.

    When I say great, I mean it. I so much enjoyed watching it season 3 and now I’m expecting it season 4 to be release.

  32. This show is very good. The focus isn’t just about fighting all the time. There are stories from different points of views in 1870’s San Francisco.

  34. When I thought it was killed with Cinemax I was disappointed. This is definitely in my top 3 all time. The story telling, character development, action and the cast are all amazing. I can’t speak to what Mr. Lee would like, I myself am very, very happy with what his daughter has produced. I like to think he would too! Please keep this one alive Max!!!

  46. Please give us a 4th season! Love the show. I’m 75 years old and remember the time of Bruce Lee. The few minutes on the Green Hornet of kung-fu sold me on martial arts for life. Warrior is an excellent series. Hope to see it continue.

  47. The most exciting series I’ve ever watched. So much history and politics involved. Let this show shed light on our history. Better than any John Wick movie out there. Love this show need to see more of it. I’m ready for Season 4,5,6,7…….

  53. Definitely would like to see Warrior return for Season 4. A favourite of mine, I would not be happy to see it ended while the story is still young and showing so much promise as there are many interesting characters that can still be further developed – Love the martial arts action as well.

  58. Great show, completely different from anything that’s has been on tv for the last 10 years. The storyline is fantastic. Shows a part of history that has been hidden from our American culture and never told.

  59. Warrior is a great action series with threads of actual history. All the characters are integral but the Asian cast may have the most depth and development I’ve seen in any series.

I m 73…every generation has its hate in history….of cause there is true to a lot of what’s going on in Warrior….and I won’t like to see some happiness to most of the characters….fighting for territory will be there so let’s see them share and find a way to work with Irish. Give us the 4th season

  63. This is my favorite show. I trained many years in karate, worked in san francisco, sonoma too. My ancestors were around for the railroad construction and the cable cars…so many connections in this show…Really love it.
