Renewed Or Cancelled?
Surviving Summer is an Australian Tween drama series, bringing together a group of colourful characters, plenty of stand-out moments and lots of sizzling romance.
With the second season now over, you may be wondering if this has been renewed or cancelled. Here’s what we know so far:
What is Surviving Summer Season 2 about?
After the first season, season 2 wastes absolutely no time getting right into the thick of drama. Summer is back in Shorehaven and this time, things are very different. Ari is now in a relationship with Wren, while Poppy has her own love interest. There’s also the mysterious hunk Bax, complete with pink hair and a wild child attitude that brings out the best in Summer.
The opening episode sees Summer crash try-outs on her return and make the wildcard spot in the team. Wren immediately takes a dislike to her and even worse, Wren’s older sister Elo is going to be the head coach for the team. All the while, Ari is conflicted over his feelings, Summer is stuck in the middle with these two sisters, and even more so when she finds out Bax is their sibling too.
As the season progresses, there’s plenty of teen angst and drama that comes to the foreground, especially during episode 5 which sees a big turning point and a fall-out between Bodhi and Poppy too.
Episode 7 then moves the drama further into the territory of the National try-outs, leading eventually to a dramatic finale to round things out.
Has Surviving Summer been renewed for season 3?
At the time of writing, Netflix have not renewed Surviving Summer for a third season, although it’ll be interesting to see if this one does get the green-light, given how good the engagement is for this one.
Generally Netflix, like other streaming platforms, gauge numerous metrics before renewing a show, including how many people initially watch it and then looking at the drop-off rate. With some shows, cancellations or renewals happen quickly (ala. Squid Game, Bridgerton etc.) Other times, it can take months before Netflix make a decision over a show’s future.
Surviving Summer has had a pretty good reaction from fans and critics alike, with lots liking the show and the audience generally enjoying the romance and drama this show has in abundance.
With all this in mind, coupled with the slightly open ending, we predict that Netflix will renew Surviving Summer for a follow-up season, although we will update this section when we learn more!
What we know about season 3 so far:
Not much is known about season 3 at the time of writing, given Netflix have not officially renewed this one yet. Should the streamers decide to greenlight this one then of course Summer will return, along with all the cast and crew too. We could see more of Wren and Elo, given their storyline has been left open. As highlighted above, we think this is going to be renewed and hopefully we get an answer sooner rather than later!

Please don’t cancel this show. You get hooked on a show then turn around and you cancel it. Looking forward to more seasons. PLEASE

I desperately hope they approve season 3 and a season 4. I hope they give some action next for Summer and Bax and hopefully they get together for a bit. 🤞🤞
I think summer and Baxter should get together
I would definitely like to see a season three as for the ending of season two I quite liked it. The only thing is I felt like Summer should’ve explored the relationship with Baxter a little more and hopefully we get to see them perhaps end up together in season three but overall, I absolutely loved the growth and development in each character an absolute can’t wait to find out if will be a season three.
