Shadow and Bone is a thoroughly enjoyable fantasy series, with high production values and a lovable band of characters. After finishing the whole series, you may be wondering if this has been renewed or cancelled. Here’s what we know:

What is Shadow and Bone Season 2 about?

Shadow and Bone season 2 picks up where we left off with our dual storylines taking precedence for the 8 episodes. The first follows Alina as she heads off on the hunt for amplifiers to increase her power and destroy the Fold once and for all.

Unfortunately, Kirigan is still lurking about, having survived the onslaught during season 1’s finale. Even worse, he’s now in control of those shadow monsters and he means business, desperate to stop Alina no matter what.

Meanwhile, the Crows continue to be led by Kaz, who sets off with his group on various different heist missions, which eventually interweave into Alina’s storyline. All of this builds up to a dramatic and world-changing fight during the final two episodes.

Has Shadow and Bone been renewed for season 3?

At the time of writing, Shadow and Bone season 3 has been cancelled according to Deadline.

Generally Netflix gauge numerous metrics before renewing a show, including how many people initially watch it and then looking at the drop-off rate. The completion rate is one of the most important metrics though, as recently revealed with the shock cancellation of 1899.

Shadow and Bone had a pretty good reaction from critics and audiences alike. But we had already predicted earlier this year that Shadow and Bone would be cancelled due to the long-drawn silence. We’ve seen heavy hitters like The OA, 1899 and Warrior Nun fall by the wayside similarly.

What we know about season 3 so far:

Barely anything is known about season 3 at this point, given Netflix has cancelled it. If another platform picks it up, expect the threat to turn toward this Fjerdan weapon, the virus that caused the “red wedding” and what havoc that will cause across the realm.

  1. I’d be so sad if they don’t renew Shadow and Bone! I love this show so much! It’s one of my two favorite Netflix originals!

  2. Agree that this show should be renewed! Excellent cast and great story-telling. Don’t leave us hanging, Netflix!

  3. If Netflix doesn’t renew for a 3rd season and more they are wrong on many counts so many great shows that they keep canceling….. Shadow and bone is by far one of the best shows I’ve watch in awhile!!

  5. It absolutely warrants renewal. This is an intricate, well-acted series with great characters, an elaborate storyline, great production values. Tell everyone you know to watch it all the way through ASAP so the numbers will justify renewing this show for a third season!

  6. The renewal isn’t a want it’s a NEED! the characters are so well portrayed by the actors and I need to see this wonderful cast come together again! Please renew it

  7. Of course we need a season 3!!!! We have to know how it ends!!!! Is nikoli evil, is Alina evil? Is she pregnant? Is David dead?? Does Nina finally get her fearden from prison? Does inej come back for Kaz, or fall for the hot twi Way too many questions left <n answered!!!
