Renewed Or Cancelled?
Replacing Chef Chico is the latest Filipino drama on Netflix, bringing together heartfelt drama, compelling characters and plenty of sizzling food action. If you’ve finished watching the first season, you may be wondering if this one has been renewed or cancelled. Here’s what we know about a sequel:
What is Replacing Chef Chico about?
The series centers on Ella, a Sous Chef at the upmarket Hains restaurant. She plays second fiddle to Chico, a brilliant man who looks after his kitchen with an iron fist and meticulous amount of detail-orientated perfection. There’s clearly something brewing between Ella and Chico though, and midway through episode 1 we learn they actually happen to be involved in an affair.
However, when Chico ends up in a devastating car crash and is comatose, it falls to Ella to pick up the pieces and take over the restaurant.
From here, the show adopts an episodic structure. Each has a new customer show up at the restaurant, offering some sound life advice or simply reinforcing ideas or subplots that each of the different chefs carry with them across the 8 episodes.

Has Replacing Chef Chico been renewed for season 2?
At the time of writing, Netflix has not renewed Replacing Chef Chico for season 2. Given how conclusive the ending is to this one, it’ll be interesting to see if they actually do renew this for a follow-up, especially after that ending!
Netflix, like other streamers, tend to use a variety of different metrics to gauge whether a show is renewed, including completion rate and minutes watched.
The first season though actually ends pretty conclusively (as mentioned above) without much wiggle-room for more story. Every plot point is basically wrapped up. Unless the makers decide to go the route of a sequel with Chico returning or Ella finding more trouble at the restaurant, it seems unlikely that this one will be returning. We predict that Replacing Chef Chico will not be renewed for a second season.

What we know about season 2 so far:
Barely anything is known about season 2 at this point, given Netflix have not green-lit a sequel.
Should they renew this, it’s fair to assume that all of our characters will be returning, and we may well get more drama involving Raymond, Ella and Chico again.
For now, we’ll have to wait and see what will happen and if this one is renewed.
