Renewed or Cancelled?
Invasion is arguably Apple TV’s most divisive offering to date. The sci-fi show’s Season 1 was classified as a long, arduous setup for the next season by its creators. That promise is not kept in Season 2 which has recently concluded. We are left with yet another cliffhanger at the end of this season which tempts another instalment. Shioli Kutsuna, India Brown, and Golshifteh Farahani star in major roles and are part of a well-rounded ensemble cast.
If you’ve finished watching this one, you may be wondering if this has been renewed or cancelled. Here’s what we know so far:
What is Invasion Season 2 about?
Invasion’s Season 2 takes place through different subplots that are interconnected. Each of the major characters from the last season is back to fight the aliens. Mitsuki is called from Japan by the WDC and Dharma’s megalomaniac leader to the Amazon rainforests. She has to navigate an alien life force in a fell ship and figure out how to communicate with it.
Aneesha is on the run with Sarah and Luke. Their adventures in the wild do not last for long as the trio runs into members of a rebellion group called The Movement. Its leader, Clark, takes a fancy to Aneesha and helps them navigate the treacherous path ahead. Trevante goes back home to Florida after he thinks Caspar was not saved in the final moments of the last season.
However, the trauma of war and his restlessness about the invasion grows every day. He is eventually forced to once again join the fight. Jamila gathers a group of friends and sets out to find Caspar, whom she frequently sees in her dreams. She feels that he is still alive and is somewhere in Paris. All of these characters meet each other at some stage in the season and get breakthroughs in the fight against the aliens.
Has Invasion been renewed for Season 3?
At the time of writing, Apple TV Plus has renewed Invasion for a third season.
Season 2 of Invasion started well but fell into the same traps as the first season. Despite the promise of swift movement in the storytelling, we were once again left to fend off another arduous setup with almost no output. One can argue that despite focusing so much on the characters, we didn’t really see an arc for any of them.
Given how the second season has ended, a follow-up is unsurprising. The creators have been optimistic about getting the show renewed not just for a third season; but two more instalments after that. The suggestion is that they have written the script in a manner to stretch out the story to five seasons.
According to Apple, creator Simon Kinberg said of the renewal: “This new season will continue to build on the scale, stakes and propulsion of the ‘Invasion,’ while keeping our characters front and center…”

What do we know about Season 3 so far:
Not much is known about season 3 at the time of writing, given Apple TV Plus has only just renewed this one. It’s fair to assume that we will pick up in the aftermath of Caspar and Trevante making it to the mothership.
The very last moment of Season 2 hinted that perhaps Caspar is possessed by the aliens. Although we saw very little evidence of that in the show, the creators will leverage this possible story strand to write another season.

Some of the worst writing on television… I hate watch this show because I’m two seasons in and I just want to know what happens but I’m disgusted with myself when I watch this high-budget snore fest.
Invasion is a terrible show and all these commenters saying it was a good show must be paid comments from the showrunners.

You article gets one point wrong. There was one plot that was solved in the second season, the only plot that mattered: The Coffee Machine.
Also, the show has reportedly been renewed for a third season so your prediction is incorrect. Why it was renewed no one knows. Looking forward to hate-watching season 3.

Wow.. I almost gave up on the show after season 1…. It was indeed slow going but interesting.
Season 2 however has been phenomenal. I was acatually just enthralled by the story which is still more complex that most sci fi. Think Dune. Then what looks like Dune 2 where the action comes in.
I am very ready for Season 3… Please dont abandon the show.
I enjoy Invasion very much and would really like to see the series continued. Please don’t cancel it, there is too much of that going on already, good scifi shows getting canned and that is a shame!

I binged this in a little more than 24 hours and was very disappointed it ended in a cliffhanger. And then to further find out that they have not committed for a 3rd session is more than frustrating. BRING ON SEASON 3.

Please!! Don’t cancel Invasion!! I’m fully invested in the story and characters now, and it’s unfair to leave the viewers hanging! I assumed that in the penultimate episide of Season 2, we would finally get a peek at (other) intelligent life within the mothership, or possibly some humanoid reproductions of familiar faces, or perhaps even the late Sheriff (Sam Neill)?? It is downright cruel to reel in viewers and then not reward them with a story resolution or proper semi-ending, in case the suits decide to kill the show. Booooo!! Bring back Invasion for SEASON THREE. PLEEEASE!!
I really like invasion. I initially got AppleTV to watch Foundation with the intent to cancel once caught up. Invasion was the show that made me keep my subscription. I am invested in the characters and particularly enjoy when their paths cross. I would really like to see this series continue.

I liked the series, it had a good cast and was well done – if a bit slow. I would love to see it renewed for a third and final season. Please give this show a proper ending.
I really like the show, but I’m not at all interested in 3 more seasons. It felt like it would end after 2, and it should have ended at 2. It would obviously need a movie or mini- series to tie things up, but i am in no way interested in them moving the goal posts for 3 or 4 more years. It’s a great story and i love the characters, but it feels like it should end sooner than later. Not right this moment, it deserves a proper ending, and season 2 should have been it, could have been. My vote is for a movie or 2-3 episode mini-series to tie things up nicely
I really enjoyed Invasion! I think it is terrific and should be renewed.
I really like Invasion and the unique take they have on an alien invasion. I see that it’s not perfect, but overall, I think the characters are well-developed, the pace is thoughtful, and the storylines intricate without being obvious. I’m intrigued by the light in Caspar’s eyes at the very end and can’t wait to find out what happens next.
It’s shame if not renewed, because it is the first ever sci fi alien show that the focus is the people, not the aliens, much better than the Disney shits.

So slow I almost didn’t watch to the end. Will not be watching season 3 if there is one. The characters are so melodramatic it makes me groan with annoyance. 😩
Hey chickenhead biter, are you a betting man? On what scale are you willing to back your prediction that Invasion will be canceled? Bets are off if the actor strike continues and makes a continuation with child actors in important parts untenable.
