High Tides is the latest teen drama, chock full of cliched tropes, lots of drama, alcohol and sex.

So, after watching season 1 in its entirety, you may be wondering if this has been renewed or cancelled. Here’s what we know:

What is High Tides season 1 about?

At the center of this is newcomer Daan, who arrives in town and immediately finds himself mixed up with a rich, arrogant group of kids. This clique is fronted by Alex and his loose cannon girlfriend, Louise. Adding more drama to the fold though is Anouk, Daan’s neighbour whom he spends the first few minutes of episode 1 snapping pictures of in secret from his window. 

However, there’s an additional layer of drama here coming from the parents. Specifically, Daan’s mother Melissa. She’s in town for a reason and it seems to stem from dark family secrets surrounding her sister and, potentially, Alex’s parents too. The latter is a big point of contention because Alex’s dad Patrick ends up in an affair with Margaux’s mother, and all these secrets threaten to spill over and destroy the happy summer that these kids have planned.

Has High Tides been renewed for season 2?

It has recently been announced that High Tides will be renewed for season 2.

Generally Netflix would gauge numerous metrics before renewing a show, including how many people initially watch it and then looking at the drop-off rate.

With some shows, cancellations or renewals happen quickly. Other times, it can take months before a decision over a show’s future is made.

High Tides has had a pretty mixed reaction from critics and audiences alike, with some enjoying this but others commenting on the simplicity of the story and how similar this is to other teen dramas of its kind.

Season 1 had a cliffhanger ending so it’s no surprise that Season 2 has been announced. Filming for the new season is scheduled for 2024 with an expected release date of 2025.

What we know about season 2 so far:

Barely anything is known about season 2 at this point but we’d imagine that the story will pick up where it left off, with Louise heading back home and seeing the devastation with Alex and his father, Patrick. With the latter now dead, there are huge question marks over how everyone is going to react to this. And what of Christine and her daughter? Big question marks!

  4. I couldn’t imagine why it wouldn’t be a second season with leaving it on a cliffhanger at the end of the last episode!
    To say it didn’t draw people’s interests. I know for certain it did! I think there should be more. How would things change after all that chaos? Seems to get people’s attention. Second season is a must in my opinion and sure some other’s don’t agree but isn’t that how it is with other shows… Anyway I hope to see more of this show

  9. I’ve enjoyed this series so much and watched all 10 series without stopping and staying up all night just to finish it. I’ll be extremely angry to have stayed up all night to finish season 1 and there’ll be no season 2.

  12. It has been the best show i have watched continuoudly without any break but it did leave me hanging i would really like season 2 .I am willing to buy it beforr you release it

  14. Really liked this show! I really hope there is a season 2. Season one kept me hooked and with the way it ended, this should really be continued!
