What is Brain Works Season 1 about?

Brain Works is a comedy and mystery thriller K-drama. It tells the story of Geum Myung Se, a detective whose cantankerous nature leads people who aren’t close to him to think he is a corrupt cop. However, he is a kind, virtuous man who is simply misunderstood. He has a little scuffle with Shin Ha Ru, a neuroscientist and one thing leads to another making them work together.

With help of hypnotic investigator Seol So-jung, the neuroscientist and the detective work together to solve criminal cases.

Has Brain Works been renewed for season 2?

At the time of writing, KBS2 have not renewed Brain Works for season 2. Given the ratings over the weeks, it’ll be interesting to see if they actually do renew this for a follow-up.

The ratings began with a modest 5.2% share nationwide but since then, the show has been slowly slipping down the rankings, with the later episodes hitting around 3.3%.

Given the low ratings, coupled with the fact that it’s extremely rare to find Korean dramas renewed for another season, it seems very unlikely that Brain Works will be renewed for a second season.

What we know about season 2 so far:

Barely anything is known about season 2 right now. Given most Korean dramas are reserved to one season, it’s rare to find these sort of shows renewed. With the exception of ongoing Netflix shows (Love ft. Marriage and Divorce, Hospital Playlist etc.) then it seems unlikely that this one will be renewed.

Having said that though, we have seen Taxi Driver and Tale of the Nine Tailed renewed recently, alongside Alchemy of Souls too. Could we see Brain Works buck the trend? It seems very unlikely that it will. However, if that changes then we’ll be sure to update this page. We generally aim to update this page when more information becomes available.
