Has Blood, Sex and Royalty been renewed for Season 2? Here’s what we know:

Renewed Or Cancelled?

Blood, Sex, and Royalty is based on the life of Anne Boleyn, King Henry VIII’s second wife. The show is recounted from her point of view, and has a modern spin to it. Throughout the season, the drama delves into the gloomy specifics of Anne Boleyn’s journey, who initially served as a woman in waiting at the French and English royal households during her teenage years.

If you’ve finished watching the entire season, you might be wondering if the show will be renewed. Here’s what we know so far:

What is Blood, Sex, and Royalty about?

The reign of King Henry VIII has been beautifully depicted in several shows. However, this show made the intriguing choice to recount the tale from the viewpoint of one of his wives, Anne Boleyn, which is an interesting direction to pursue given how prolific she is.

The Netflix Original docu-series dramatizes the world of Anne Boleyn, walking us through the most violent and exciting aspects of the Queen’s life. Furthermore, the show intertwines scenes from Anne’s earlier years, which have a fun, vivacious tone as she breaks the fourth wall to deliver comments to us in a Fleabag head-turn style.

Has Blood, Sex, and Royalty been renewed for season 2?

Is a second season possible given how the finale ends? Since the queen was unable to bear King Henry VIII  an heir, Anne Boleyn was ultimately put to death. Season 2 of the docudrama could further give us a glimpse of her daughter, Elizabeth I, who went on to become one of England’s greatest monarchs.

Elizabeth’s reign was referred to as the Golden Age, and she was referred to as “Gloriana” and “The Virgin Queen”, in numerous sonnets, poems, and epics.

Considering that this particular character disobeyed every rule of monarchy, even declining to wed a man, the tale’s continuation could be more thrilling! It’s also likely that the next original work develops into an anthology series, which could enable Blood, Sex, and Royalty season 2 to explore a completely different period of history.

While renewing a series, Netflix often evaluates a variety of factors, such as how many people immediately watch it along with the drop-off rates. Some series undergo fast cancellations or renewals. Sometimes, it may take several months for Netflix to decide whether or not to renew a show.

The show is currently doing a decent job, ranked among the top 10 on Netflix in a number of different countries across the world. However, it has received a rather mixed response from reviewers and viewers alike. The documentary series has an adventurous teenage target audience in mind, but with the actors’ performances and, in particular, the intriguing Anne Boleyn storyline, it might be able to draw in a decent number of audience.

The typical production time for this kind of original work is eight to twelve months. This suggests that if Netflix decides to extend Blood, Sex & Royalty season 2 will be aired in the fall of 2023.

In light of everything, we believe that Blood, Sex, and Royalty won’t receive a second season renewal. Although it’s admirable that the show has taken a bold step by showcasing the events through Anne Boleyn’s point of view, it seems doubtful that it will continue.

As we learn more over the upcoming weeks and months, we’ll be certain to update this page with relevant information.

What we know about season 2 so far:

Since Netflix has not yet approved a sequel, not much is known about season 2. But if the right storyline materializes in the future, the tale might go on.

As previously stated, we anticipate that this won’t be renewed. However, as soon as new information is made available, we’ll be certain to update this article.

  1. Yes!!! Season 2 please!!! This was informing yet fun and cheeky. I love hearing Anne’s perspective, so refreshing as the story is normally told with Henry and his agenda in mind. Oh the places this could go…so many players, so much intrigue. Fascinating! Loved season 1!

  2. This modern spin is definitely better than Cunk on Earth and makes me think rather than felt my intelligence is being insulted!

  3. Another season depicting the reign of Queen Elizabeth I would carry the legacy of Anne and Henry. I would look forward to it.

  4. I loved the first season i think they should make a new season on the view point of henrys next wife and how elizabeth is doing while growing up

  5. I really enjoy the series. It’s a totally different perspective of history during that time. I hope Netflix renews another. Annes’s daughter was such a powerful extension of her and Henry. So much more to be told in this interesting drama.

  6. Love it.blood ,sex and royalty .I’m so hopeful for a season 2 .there are so many queens whom have set the foundations of our world to what it is today.i think is exciting , admirable and insightful into the lives of queen ,not only from past historical notes ,but from what they were feeling and thinking as a woman figure in society .I feel this series has way more to offer in the future ,like I said there are more than just 1 queen who changed history. Hey if days if our lives can run for decades ,why can’t this – more interesting and real people last just as long?

  7. I believe that blood, sex, and royalty is a really unique twist on how we can present history to today’s generation introducing powerful women from the early monarchy. I love that it is presented in a mini series format to get the alluring story through acting while being narrated by scholars who researched influential people and how they brought about changes in government and religion in that particular era creating the foundation of European monarchy as we know it today

I am waiting eagerly to see if it is renewed for season two! I would love to see the story of Elizabeth I! How does someone help push Netflix for a second season?? Lol!
