Sony has announced the latest line-up of PS Plus Essential titles which will be made available to subscribers on Tuesday, May 7.

The games available in May are EA Sports FC 24, Ghostrunner 2, Tunic, and Destiny 2: Lightfall

These are on top of the PS Plus Extra and Premium games that were made available to subscribers in April, which included Dave the Diver, Oddballers, and The Crew 2.

EA Sports FC 24 Standard Edition  (PS5, PS4 )

Football’s coming home, quite literally, should you decide to bring this game into your home when it lands on PS Plus Essential in May. It’s a fairly decent football title but only marginally better than Fifa 23, so don’t expect this game to be too revolutionary.

Official Description:

“EA SPORTS FC™ 24 marks the beginning of the future of football. Built on innovation and authenticity, feel closer to the game in the most true-to-football experience yet with the best players from the biggest clubs, leagues and competitions around the globe.

Experience unparalleled realism in every match thanks to three cutting-edge technologies: HyperMotionV, PlayStyles optimized by Opta and the enhanced Frostbite™ Engine.

With more than 19,000 fully licensed players, 700 teams and 30 leagues including the UEFA Men’s and Women’s Champions League, EA SPORTS FC 24 brings unrivalled authenticity to the pitch.” (source)

Ghostrunner 2 (PS5)

The first Ghostrunner was extremely hard – I struggled to get past the first couple of levels! The sequel is also fairly difficult but if your fingers are more nimble than mine, you should have a blast playing this fast-moving cyberpunk title. The inclusion of a motorcycle makes it even more fun to play.

Official Description:

“Ghostrunner 2 is an intense and immersive action experience that builds on the fast-paced action from Ghostrunner, where you’ll have to slash your way through enemies while avoiding taking any damage to reach your goal.

Set in a post-apocalyptic cyberpunk future, a violent AI cult has taken shape inside Dharma Tower – the last refuge of humanity – following the fall of the previous tyrant ruler, the Keymaster.

Ghostrunner 2 features one-hit kill mechanics, a deeper exploration of the world beyond Dharma Tower through new dialogue options, numerous combat improvements, non-linear levels with complex motorbike sections and exciting new modes.” (source)

Tunic (PS5, PS4)

Tunic might look like a cutesy title but it’s more challenging than you might imagine. It’s even been compared to Dark Souls, which might be surprising to hear, considering this looks deceptively like a children’s game.

Official Description:

“Explore a land filled with lost legends, ancient powers, and ferocious monsters in TUNIC, an isometric action game about a small fox on a big adventure. Stranded in a ruined land, and armed with only your own curiosity, you will confront colossal beasts, collect strange and powerful items, and unravel long-lost secrets.” (source)

Destiny 2: Lightfall (PS5, PS4)

Are you still playing Destiny? If so, and if you haven’t yet downloaded this expansion pack, you now have new content to download to prolong your time with the game.

Official Description:

“In a Neptunian city under siege, find strength in your fellow Guardians as the end to all things approaches—the Witness is here. Arm yourself with new rewards and unlock new Dark powers to triumph in Lightfall’s unforgettable Legendary mode.

Harness Darkness and pluck at the threads of reality with this new subclass. Flow through the city with newfound speed as you grapple from building to building. Every class can tap into this new element, but it’s up to you to create the perfect build.

Travel to Neptune and discover a neon metropolis unlike any you’ve explored in Destiny 2. Meet the Cloud Striders, join the fight against the Shadow Legion, and prevent devastation in the technologically advanced secret city of Neomuna.” (source)

  1. Hey, thanks for getting in touch. I’m assuming you meant to ask about the ‘Extra’games for May as the ‘Essential’ games were in the article that you commented on. If so, I don’t know what the games will be yet. However, they will be announced on the 15th of May, so I will have an article up then.

The PS Plus Essential games for June will be announced on May 29. So, I will write up an article with that lineup some time on that day. I hope that helps and that it answered your question. But let me know if there is anything else I can help with.

    Lee 🙂
