Professor T – Season 3 Episode 1 “Heir to the Throne” Recap & Review

Heir to the Throne

Episode 1 of Professor T kicks off with a dramatic scene as Jasper finds himself in handcuffs, headed to prison. He’s taking the fall for Christina, who tried to kill Lanesborough. Jasper believes that if Christina tells the truth during the hearing, she’ll end up getting arrested and lose everything, from her job to her freedom. So, Jasper stayed silent and pleaded guilty, resulting in his imprisonment.

When Wilfred breaks the news to Jasper’s mother, she initially can’t believe it. She thinks it’s too early for her son to end up in jail. However, she soon realizes from Wilfred’s serious expression that he isn’t joking. In jail, Jasper unexpectedly crosses paths with Kenny, a criminal he helped put behind bars.

Now that Jasper is imprisoned, Kenny sees a perfect opportunity for revenge. The prison warden suggests moving Jasper to VPU for his safety, but Jasper insists on staying in the thick of it. Meanwhile, Christina receives a visit from Sam Hines, known for taking down corrupt cops. Paul advises Christina to carefully reconsider her statement before talking to Sam, as it could complicate Jasper’s situation.

Sam is investigating the events at the police station, where Simon claimed Christina tried to kill him. However, Christina denies everything. Lise and Winters stumble upon the body of Leo Moore, who appears to have been killed in a botched robbery, suffering multiple blows to the head. With the help of a witness, they track down Zeb Drakeford, who was seen hurriedly leaving Leo’s warehouse on the morning of the murder.

Zeb confesses that he was there to settle a personal dispute with Leo. It turns out that Leo had installed fake rims on Zeb’s wife’s car, leading the insurance company to deny health insurance claims, citing pre-existing faults in the car. Further investigation reveals that Leo was involved in selling counterfeit car parts.

Despite this, Winter is convinced that Zeb is the killer and also took Leo’s phone. Elsa and Winter then meet with Adam Bernard after discovering his fingerprints on the murder weapon. Adam admits to meeting Leo the night before but denies killing him. However, Lisa isn’t convinced and charges Adam with the murder of Leo Moore.

Adam finds himself in the same prison as Jasper, and Omar, Jasper’s cellmate, asks Jasper to use his criminology knowledge to help Adam. Kenny makes another attempt on Jasper’s life, but Adam intervenes and saves him. Adam offers to protect Jasper if he helps him, but Jasper initially refuses, stating that he cannot help unless he believes Adam is truly innocent.

However, Jasper later has a change of heart and asks Lisa for Adam’s case files. According to Jasper, Adam doesn’t fit the profile of a killer and is not the type to carry out a frenzied attack. Jasper believes the killer would be someone who lacks control over their emotions, especially anger. During a visit, Jasper notices Joseph, Adam’s younger brother, and suspects that he fits the profile of the killer.

Lisa digs deeper and discovers that Leo was paying someone at the Bernard brothers to turn a blind eye to his fraudulent activities. During Joseph’s interrogation, his silence hints that there’s more to the story than he’s letting on.

Jasper decides to have a heart-to-heart with Joseph, making it clear that he knows Joseph killed Leo, even if it was unintentional. Jasper advises Joseph that if he truly cares for his brother, he should come clean. Joseph heeds this advice and confesses to the crime.

So, why did Joseph kill Leo? It turns out that Leo was selling fake parts to Adam and was also paying Joseph to turn a blind eye to his illegal activities. However, things took a dark turn when Zeb’s wife got into an accident and decided to sue Leo. Fearing exposure, Leo pressured Joseph to buy all the fake parts, or he’d expose Joseph to his brother. In a moment of rage, Joseph lost control and bludgeoned Leo to death with a baseball bat.

The Episode Review

Professor T is off to a great start, but watching Jasper solve murder cases from behind bars could get old quickly. It would be more interesting to see Jasper freed from prison and back in the field, tackling impossible murder cases.

However, it won’t be easy, as Jasper won’t tell the truth to protect Christina and avoid ruining her career. From what we know of Jasper, he wouldn’t consciously harm anyone.
