The Perfect Picture
In episode 2 of Professor T season 3, Jasper reluctantly agrees to meet his mother, Adelaide, who inquires about his well-being. Adelaide reveals that the university has reassigned Jasper’s students to Professor Hayden, and there are rumours that Jasper’s silence is being interpreted as an admission of guilt. This has put Jasper’s professorship in jeopardy, and there’s a possibility he might lose his job.
Meanwhile, Sam questions Christina about her actions and the events of that fateful night. Simon’s statement accuses Christina of luring him into her office to kill him. However, Christina maintains that Simon is lying and that she had actually called him into her office to arrest him.
Lisa and Winters rush to the crime scene, where they find the body of Greta Parkes, a bride who drowned in the swimming pool just hours after her wedding. Paul finds no signs of a struggle and sends the body for an autopsy.
Lisa and Winters start their investigation by collecting the guests’ phones and questioning them about Greta. They inquired if Greta had any problems or if she was involved in any addictive behaviour. Through their questions, they discover Fabian Scholes, a former staff member who was fired for stealing from Greta’s room.
Interestingly, Fabian is the same man seen at the start of the episode. When confronted, Fabian invokes the Fifth Amendment. He admits to returning to the hotel but claims that Greta was already dead and floating in the water when he arrived. Winters uncovers another lead concerning Rosemary, who attended the wedding uninvited and also happens to be Graydon’s ex-girlfriend.
It’s revealed that Rosemary and Graydon had dated before he started seeing Greta. However, Rosemary didn’t take kindly to Graydon’s new relationship and began harassing Greta with name-calling and threats. Rosemary maintains her innocence, claiming she may have been a jealous ex-girlfriend, but denies being a killer. Additionally, Winters also starts to see Graydon as a potential suspect in Greta’s murder.
When faced with a roadblock in the investigation, Paul seeks out Jasper for his insightful perspective. They revisit the crime scene together, where Jasper’s keen eye helps them uncover crucial details. After reviewing the footage and examining the body, Jasper concludes that Greta’s death was not accidental but intentional.
He also suggests dusting Greta’s ankles for footprints. Paul drops Jasper off at the prison, advising him to come clean to the judge to avoid a lifetime behind bars for the wrongful charge of attempted murder. Meanwhile, Ade pays a visit to Christina, urging her to end her charade and reveal the truth.
In a clever move, Lisa and Paul hatch a plan to catch the killer by pretending there’s a fire, clearing out the hall, and then nabbing Reverend Hall as he tries to escape. They corner him at the pool, and Lisa manipulates Hall’s own narcissism to get him to confess everything.
As it turns out, Reverend Hall’s motive for killing Greta was shockingly personal. He was having an affair with her, and when she threatened to expose their relationship to her husband, Hall’s fear drove him to commit the ultimate crime.
In the final moments of the episode, Sam pays a visit to Jasper, asking him to tell the truth. Despite facing charges of attempted murder, Jasper stubbornly refuses to come clean and defend himself.
The Episode Review
Jasper once again proves his brilliance by solving another case that had stumped the police. Unlike others, Jasper doesn’t just look at facts; he delves into the minds of his suspects to determine their guilt or innocence.
If a suspect is narcissistic, Jasper can become one, too, but no criminal can escape his sharp eyes, let alone his mind. However, even Jasper has his weaknesses when it comes to love.
Despite being innocent, he’s behind bars so his loved one can be free. It seems he’s not going to reveal the truth in court to protect Christina.
