Palworld Guide: How To Automate Gathering Berries, Wood & Stone

Palworld Guide: How To Automate Resource Gathering

Palworld is the latest open world craze that’s taking the PC world by storm right now. And the alpha has finally dropped! With fantastic art direction, some great mechanics and a moreish gameplay style, there’s plenty to see and do with this one.

The game itself is pretty long, and you’ll find yourself captivated by the world for hours so do expect that playtime to creep up quickly – especially if you want to try and collect everything and complete every achievement this game has to offer!

Survival is a massive part of Palworld’s allure, along with capturing the little Pals themselves of course! In order to get the most out of this game, you’re going to need to put those Pals to work. Of course, all this work will make them hungry (so check out our guide for food here!) but it’ll be worth it if you can put them to work on the right tasks.

You may have noticed that building any sort of structure within the base will automatically see Pals rush over (if they can) and help build, which speeds up the time taken to create this structure). As soon as you reach Level 8, there are a few structures that are an absolute must for your base.

What Do You Need For The Farms?

The first thing you need is a Berry Plantation. Unlock this on the Technology screen and then select it from your Build menu.

In order to build it, you’re going to need 3x Berry Seeds, 20x Wood and 20x Stone. Once you’ve placed it down, you’re going to need to recruit and add certain Pals into your Base to do this work for you. For your convenience, we’ve listed all three crucial components of Farming and our recommended Pals to add on.

  • Planting: To plant the crops, we’d recommend using Gumoss or Lifmunk.
  • Watering: Now we need to water the plants, and Pengullet is perfect for this, you’ll notice it skittering around the open world map and it’s bright blue, so you can’t miss it.
  • Gathering: In order to gather the berries, simply play down either a Cattiva or Chikipi. These will then carry it over to your Storage Box (so make sure you’ve built one!)

Once you’ve got your Berry Plantation up and running, you can level up your Base and then return here later in the game to add extra Plantations, which will range from Wheat to Lettuce and more. Because of all this work, it’s a great idea to place your Feed Box right next to the Plantation to keep your Pals happy.

How to Automate Wood Gathering

Much like the Plantation, you can also add in a Logging Site, which will help to Automate collecting Wood. Of course, you’re going to need specific Pals in order to help automate this whole process. Thankfully, we’re on hand to help!

First up, you’ll need to building a Logging Site, which can be done by collecting 50x Wood, 20x Stone and 10x Paldium Fragment. Again, make sure you place this near your Feed Box for the Pals. Once you’ve placed it down, you’re going to need to recruit and add certain Pals into your Base to do this work for you. For your convenience, we’ve listed both crucial components of logging and our recommended Pals to add on.

  • Chopping Wood: To chop down the woods, you’re going to need Pals with the Logging Trait. This early on, it’s a good idea to grab either a Dinossom or a Lifmunk.
  • Gathering: In order to gather the wood, we’d recommend using a Cattiva, which also doubles up for gathering Berries too. These will then carry it over to your Storage Box (so make sure you’ve built one!)

How to Automate Stone Gathering

Next, you want to place down a Stone Pit. This costs 50x Stone, 10x Wood and 10x Paldium Fragment. Once you’ve done this, you want to make sure you’ve got some Cattiva in your camp, or other Pals with the Mining trait so they can get to work in gathering your resources.

What are the best Pals for the base?

Early on in the game, the best Pals to use are going to be Cattiva and Lifmunks. These guys can do a variety of different tasks and using multiple versions of these will help speed up resource gathering while you go out and explore the world. Of course, later on in the game there are better Pals to take over but during the early game, make sure you collect plenty of these Pals!
