One Piece (Anime) – Episode 1093 Recap & Review

One Piece

Episode 1093

Law’s crew is in their submarine, trying to escape the fight. However, Blackbeard uses bombs and his earthquake powers to make that impossible. Also, because of Doc Q’s ability, Law has become a woman. The enemy used a disease that made the victim change genders but it doesn’t last long, as he uses his Haki to return to normal, something he knows thanks to the fight in Wano.

The submarine surfaces, with the crew free from the disease. So, Burgess and Van Augur go to the nearest island using the shooter’s devil fruit ability, Warp. With his Strong-Strong fruit, Burgess throws part of a giant mountain on the enemies, making everyone desperate. Fortunately, Law easily cuts it into pieces using Room.

Blackbeard appears in the sky, riding Stronger, Doc Q’s horse. He wants Law’s Road Ponegliffs, so the pirates make a bet: the one who wins, takes it all.

Law creates a room around Blackbeard and cuts the horse in half, making both enemies fall. While Blackbeard sends an earthquake to hit his opponents, Doc Q also throws bombs, that look like apples, at them. However, all of them explode before hitting the ground, as Shachi hits them with seawater.

Law’s sword pierces Blackbeard but doesn’t hurt the enemy. Before he can laugh about it not being effective, a shockwave goes through the weapon, sending the pirate flying. Because of that, Van has to warp and save him.

As Law’s crew attacks their ship, we can see they have Pudding as a hostage. Before this fight, Kuzan and Van went to Whole Cake and defeated several pirates there, like Cracker. The task was incredibly easy thanks to the ex-admiral’s ice. Still, she says she knows what they want with her and that she won’t let them.

While the battle happens, far away, Akainu complains he can’t interfere yet as he’s the fleet admiral. Back to the fight, Law sends rocks toward Blackbeard and tries to use the chance to strike him with his sword. However, Blackbeard easily blocks it and activates Black Vortex.

The Episode Review

Law’s crew hasn’t had a lot of moments up until now, except funny ones, so it’s good to see them all fight. Obviously, they aren’t weak, but they aren’t nearly as powerful as other pirate ships. This episode makes it clear that they have been doing good all thanks to Law’s strength and command, being a good strategist.

The fight is simple, but it’s cool to see the abilities of Blackbeard’s crew. Also, we still need to see more of them, but they seem like Luffy’s team. Everyone appears to be a bit independent and has extremely different personalities.

The animation during the fight is good, but it stands out way more during a specific moment: when Kuzan appears. When he freezes Cracker, he feels like an untouchable shadow, all because he’s so powerful. One Piece really needs more episodes that mix different animation styles and heighten already great moments.

Of course, the anime has many examples of it. But most are from Megumi Ishitani, considered the anime’s best director, and other recent episodes. Many episodes don’t have a single part that stands out (at least when you think of the animation).
