There’s lots of new content on Disney+ this January, including the critically acclaimed documentary Retrograde, new British comedy series Extraordinary, and the dark comedy horror film The Menu.

4th January
The Menu (2022)
Tyler (Nicholas Hoult) and his companion Margot Mills (Anya-Taylor Joe) travel to the Pacific Northwest to eat at an exclusive restaurant that is located on a private island. What should be a pleasant evening turns out to be something else besides when it becomes apparent that the chef (Ralph Fiennes) has more in store for his guests than a menu of enticing foods.
6th January
If These Walls Could Sing
This Disney Original Documentary gives us exclusive access to the most famous and longest-running studio in the world, Abbey Road Studios. Through exclusive interviews with Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Elton John, Kate Bush, and John Williams, among other famous musical celebs, we will get to hear the stories of some of the studio’s most iconic recordings from the people that made them happen.
9th January
Koala Man: Season 1
New animated series about Kevin, a middle-aged dad with a not-so-secret identity: Koala Man! Villainous masterminds, supernatural horrors, and folks who don’t put their trash cans out on the proper days are all on the radar of this unlikely superhero whose superpower is a burning passion for following the rules.
11th January
Welcome To Chippendales (Limited Series)
True crime saga about Somen “Steve” Banerjee (Kumail Nanjiani), the Indian immigrant who founded the stripper troupe, the Chippendales. This limited series goes behind the scenes of Somen’s male-stripping empire and chronicles the way in which he became obsessed with wealth and power.
Chasing Waves: Season 1
This character-driven documentary series is centred on the surf culture in Japan and the talented athletes who are chasing both waves and their dreams within the international surfing industry.
13th January
The Territory
Documentary about a young Indigenous leader and his mentor who fight back in defence of their land against a network of Brazilian farmers who have seized a protected area of the Amazon rainforest.
Retrograde
This deeply moving and powerful documentary from City of Ghosts director Matthew Heineman tells the story of the last months of the 20-year war in Afghanistan through the intimate relationship between American Green Berets and the Afghan officers they trained.
18th January
Little Demon: Season 1
Aubrey Plaza and Danny DeVito are among the voice cast of this new animated series that tells the story of a mother and her Antichrist daughter who are trying to live an ordinary life in Delaware, despite the best attempts by Satan’s forces to gain control of the young girl’s soul.
20th January
Idina Menzel: Which Way to the Stage?
Broadway actress Idina Menzel has had an illustrious career but one dream goal has evaded her grasp: to headline a concert at Madison Square Garden in her hometown of New York City. This new documentary follows the star as she finally gets the opportunity to make her dream come true.
25th January
Extraordinary: Season 1
This new British comedy series is set in a world where everybody receives a superpower on their 18th birthday. Well, everybody except Jen (Siobhan McSweeney), who is turning 25 and still waiting to get the power that will make her extraordinary. She feels unable to move forward in her life as a consequence so sets out on a journey in the hope of gaining her superpower.
