Saltburn 2
Emerald Fennell has followed up her debut hit Promising Young Woman with this excellent thriller starring Barry Keoghan, Rosamund Pike and Richard E. Grant. Critics raved about the originality of the movie, and it’s one of the best independent movies of the year.
But will there be an Saltburn 2? Or do we have to settle for this one being a one-off psychological thriller? Here’s what we know at the time of writing:
What is Saltburn about?
Oliver Quick is a working class student on a scholarship at Oxford University, and he finds himself drawn into the world of charming and aristocratic classmate Felix, who invites him to his eccentric family’s sprawling estate, Saltburn, for the summer of 2007.

Will there be a sequel to Saltburn?

No, Saltburn 2 won’t happen for a very straightforward reason: the story has already been told. The first film was regarded as an entirely self-contained, stand-alone narrative. It came to a fitting conclusion when Oliver Quick successfully completed his plan to kill off the Catton family, having convinced Elspeth to leave the Saltburn estate to him in her will. He is seen prancing around the house naked, and delighting in achieving his goal.
What could Saltburn 2 be about?
Despite a sequel being unlikely, in theory a sequel could focus on an investigation into the unexplained deaths of the Catton family, and Oliver’s Quick’s involvement. But it’s a story that doesn’t need to be told and would take the shine off the shocking ending to the first movie.
When could Saltburn 2 be released?
The sequel would have at least been discussed if it were in the works. However, since there is currently no information regarding Saltburn 2, it is best to avoid getting your hopes up, as the likelihood of one is very low.

Of course there is plenty of opportunity & possible storyline’s to make a sequel like White Lotus! Although the Cattons weren’t perfect I’d love to see a happy ending by way of Oliver paying for what he did. Farleigh wasn’t killed so there you have a perfect opportunity for Saltburn 2 & the other comments here have some great ideas.
Yes the story has been told and is a possible stand alone movie but it could be very exciting to have a sequel! Endless possibilities Farleigh always comes back ! Maybe he might bring his Mother with him !
I think it would be interesting to see someone attach themselves to Oliver like he did felix. Someone more cunning than Oliver. The plot being Oliver falling in love with a person be it a woman or man. And then it to come out they just want the money, just like Oliver. I think that would be a very interesting plot so watch unfold . Is Oliver as good as to notice when someone is using him or is he so self obsessed he sees straight past someone’s motives.
With a side plot of farliegh trying to prove oliver had something to do with the cattons deaths.
Actually, Farleigh Start and Duncan are already plotting a takeover. Mr. Start stated that 1) This is his home, and 2) He always comes back. Duncan has his suspicions and can serve as Start’s eyes and ears in Saltburn.
