Independence Day 3
Jeff Goldblum and Bill Pullman reprised their roles in the long awaited sequel to the ’90s mega hit Independence Day alongside a cast of new actors including Liam Hemsworth and Maika Monroe. But will there be an Independence Day 3? Or do we have to settle for Independence Day: Resurgence being the only legacy sequel? Here’s what we know at the time of writing:
What is Independence Day: Resurgence about?
Two decades after the first alien invasion, Earth is faced with a new extra-terrestrial threat. David Levinson (Jeff Goldblum) returns to lend his experience alongside former president, Thomas Whitmore (Bill Pullman).
Will there be an Independence Day 3?
No, Independence Day 3 won’t happen for a very straightforward reason: the story has already been told. On top of that, producer and writer Dean Devlin reportedly has no plans to work on another sequel.
What could Independence Day 3 be about?
Despite a sequel being very unlikely, in theory, it could happen, with another threat from aliens. However, it would just be treading over old ground, as it’s been done twice already.
When could Independence Day 3 be released?
The sequel would have at least been discussed if it were in the works. However, since there is currently no information regarding Independence Day 3, it is best to avoid getting your hopes up, as the likelihood of one is extremely low.

Yeah #3 kick some alien butt,
It was mentioned that the earth couldn’t take another invasion from a harvester ship and was told that they could take the fight to them and was also told that the humans were to lead the resistance…. And was also told about a refuge planet… So if the 3rd one does come out.. Then the allies would team up to destroy all the harvester ships somehow… And getting their tails beat down to the last few remaining soldiers…. It would be really nice to have a 3rd to complete a trilogy…. Since we now have Ai and ue5 we can do something
The story could be taken to the stars. After all that was what was hinted at the end of Resurgence so that they could “kick some alien ass” Come on people use some gumption!
