Dumb and Dumber 3
Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels are hilarious in the Dumb and Dumber movies, under the genius direction of Bobby Farrelly and Peter Farrelly. The first movie came out in 1994 with the long awaited sequel following in 2014.
But will there be a Dumb and Dumber 3? Or do we have to settle for two movies in this comedy series? Here’s what we know at the time of writing:
What are Dumb and Dumber 1 and 2 about?
After a woman leaves a briefcase at the airport terminal, a dumb limo driver called Lloyd Christmas and his dumber friend, Harry, set out on a road trip to Aspen to return it.
In the sequel, its been 20 years since their first adventure, and Lloyd and Harry go on another road trip. This time they are trying to find Harry’s newly discovered daughter, who was given up for adoption.
Will there be a Dumb and Dumber 3?
No, Dumb and Dumber 3 likely won’t happen for a very straightforward reason: Jim Carrey has retired from acting and is unlikely to return for another sequel. The original two movies was regarded as entirely self-contained, stand-alone narratives, so there is no need for another movie, unless the Farrelly brothers can come up with another story (they are reportedly open to making a sequel), and coax Carrey out of retirement.
What could Dumb and Dumber 3 be about?
Despite a sequel being very unlikely, in theory, it could happen. It would be the continuing adventures of Harry and Lloyd as they get themselves caught up in yet another misadventure.
When could Dumb and Dumber 3 be released?
The sequel would have at least been discussed if it were in the works. However, since there is currently no information regarding Dumb and Dumber 3 aside from rumors and speculation, it is best to avoid getting your hopes up, as the likelihood of one is extremely low.
