Will there be The Idea of You 2?
At the time of writing, Prime Video hasn’t announced a sequel to The Idea of You.
The Idea of You is directed and written by Michael Showalter. Robin Lee, the author of the novel this movie is based on is also one of the writers fo the film along with Jennifer Westfeldt. The makers of the film have not hinted at a sequel so far.
As for Prime Video, it picks up projects they have distributed and announces sequels depending on the film’s popularity, overall views and drop-off rates. Some movies are instantly renewed while others take years to be picked up for a sequel.
So, if The Idea of You does well on Prime Video, we could maybe get a sequel… But it is unlikely at the moment.
What do we know about The Idea of You 2?
Not much is known about The Idea of You 2, at the moment given that it has not been greenlit. The film does have an open ending with the couple meeting after years of living their separate lives. With her daughter Izzy being an adult, Soléne has a lot more independence to live her life on her own terms. Hayes has now quit the band for his solo career and has a lot more freedom to date whoever he wants.
The film does end with Hayes meeting Soléne once again, but viewers are left wondering if the two get back together or not. If The Idea of You is ever renewed for a Part 2, we can expect the makers to focus on the ups and downs in Hayes and Soléne’s relationship if they possibly ever get married.

Absolutely there needs to be a 2nd movie, maybe “The Idea of Us.” I’ve watched it 7 times already and I’m sure there will be more! Bought the CD soundtrack and will buy it on DVD when and if it comes out!
I loved everything about the movie as it resonated in a way with my own life!
The 2 stars have enough chemistry to go the distance; hated the ending as I wanted more; although it was happy, would’ve liked another half hour or so to tied up all loose ends that left you hanging!
Yes I would love to see a second movie and base it on how there relationship grows and they do live happily ever after . I loved the movie and the characters . They are perfect together .
