Nightwatch: Demons Are Forever is a sequel to the 1994 movie Nightwatch. That movie was a taut exercise in terror about a young student named Martin (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) who comes face to face with a serial killer named Wörmer after taking up a night watch position at the local morgue.
Martin is back in the sequel but the focus is mainly on his daughter Emma (Fanny Leander Bornedal) who comes face-to-face with Wörmer at a psychiatric hospital.
If you’re a fan of the Nightwatch movies, you might be interested in a sequel. But will there be a Nightwatch 3? Here’s what we know:

What is Nightwatch: Demons Are Forever about?
The movie takes place almost 30 years after its predecessor. Martin is now a shell of a man, traumatized by the death of his wife and his encounter with the serial killer all those years ago.
His daughter Emma pays a visit to Wörmer who is now blind and in a coma. She films him so her father will see he is no longer his threat. But during her visit, she inadvertently causes the killer to rise from his slumber.

Will there be a Nightwatch 3?
At the time of writing, a sequel to Nightwatch: Demons Are Forever has not been announced. The decision to move ahead with a sequel will likely depend on Shudder and the movie’s director, Ole Berndal.
If there is a demand for a sequel from audiences, and if Nightwatch 3 is worth the financial risk, then a sequel may be given the green light.
However, we think a sequel is unlikely. While the second Nightwatch movie is pretty good – check out our review – the movie’s ending doesn’t offer up much hope for a sequel.

What could happen in Nightwatch 3?
A third movie would likely focus on Emma again and her attempts to move on after the traumas she encountered in Nightwatch: Demons Are Forever. While another appearance from Wörmer is unlikely, she might run into a member of his family who is out for revenge for their father’s (presumed) death.
