Millie Bobby Brown has delivered yet another stunning performance on screen with her latest film, Damsel. The dark fantasy film is directed Juan Carlos Fresnadillo and written by Dan Mazeau and takes on the classic fairytale of the damsel in distress. This time, she has to become her own hero. The movie stars well-known actors like Angela Basset, Robin Wright, and Ray Winstone.
While the film has gotten mixed reviews, you might still be wondering if there is going to be a Damsel 2. Here is everything we know about a sequel to Damsel:

What is Damsel about?
A medieval fantasy, Damsel revolves around the life of Elodie, a princess whose kingdom is in dire need of money and food. When a marriage proposal arrives, Elodie’s family readily accept and Elodie too accepts her fate. But once the wedding ceremony is over, she realises the queen and prince have only lured her to be a sacrifice for an ancient creature haunting the country — a fire-breathing dragon. Thrown into the depths of a mountain, Elodie must learn how to protect herself and find a way out before she’s burned to a crisp.

Will there be a Damsel 2?
At the time of writing, a sequel to Damsel has not been announced.
Considering the end of the movie, Damsel is a complete story in and of itself and doesn’t really require a sequel. However, in an interview with GamesRadar+, director Fresnadillo did admit that he would be happy to work on a sequel.
He believes that the twist ending of the film — where the dragon joins Elodie, her stepmother and Floria on the way back home — leaves plenty of potential for new stories. That said, he did say that the possibility of a sequel depends on the audience reaction, which so far has been mixed.
What could happen in Damsel 2?
Not much is known about a sequel to Damsel at the moment. The movie completes Elodie’s character arc and wraps up loose ends by killing the evil queen and her palace and allowing the main characters to go home in peace and prosperity. It’s a fairly conclusive ending.
But like Fresnadillo said so, a sequel could definitely explore the dynamic between Elodie’s family and their new member — the dragon herself. As a dark fantasy, we can expect the characters to face new horrors but this time, Elodie and the dragon would fight on the same side.
Of course, this is all speculation as there has been no official news regarding a second movie. Keep an eye out for this section as we will update readers if there is any news.

Someone else mentioned the absence of a decent back story for Elodie. She refers to her mother briefly at times, but those are throw-away lines. More was needed to help folks identify with the character, at least to help mature folks.
